Abstract(s)The main aim of the RadioActive Europe project is to use the production of online radio to empower young people and adults at risk of social exclusion, with regard to education and employment. Funded by the European Commission's Lifelong Learning Programme, RadioActive uses radio as an informal educational 1001 for groups of different ages, though mostly young people, through partners in the United Kingdom, Germany, Malta, Romania and Portugal. This chapter describes the Portuguese experience of this project, which has been running since March 2013 at three youth centres (two in Porto and one in Coimbra) set up under the government project Escolhas ("Choices'') to support youth communities throughout the country.
