seguindo a norma europeia EN ISO 6946.
With the main objective of developing the modular construction timber in Portugal, the University of Minho along with the Portilame company, regarding the Woodenquark project funded by the Agency for Innovation (ADI), sought to develop a house of wood, sustainable, economically competitive and above all, that fulfilled the functional requirements. This technology is based on the prefabrication and modular construction concepts and supports the ideals of easy transport and quick labor. The present work aims to increase the knowledge about the behavior of the constructive solution Woodenquark. In order to do that, the modular construction system conceived as an exterior wall, which is of utmost importance at both structural and functional level, was mechanically, acoustically and thermally characterized. Additionally, the Quark wall was also subject of interest of an economical analysis. Therefore, regarding the mechanical behavior there were performed standard assays, based on the EN 12512 to determine the ductility, decreased strength and energy dissipation of mechanical joints under cyclic loading. Concerning the acoustic behavior, the level of isolation to airborne sounds (Dn,w) was determined by an estimation method proposed by Tadeu e Mateus (2004). With respect to the thermal behavior, the coefficient of thermal transmission (U) was determined by a standard and estimative method, according to EN ISO 6946. For the economical analysis, the panel cost per square meter was evaluated. Finally, the constructive solution Quark was compared to two other conventional solutions: double-wall masonry and simple wall with exterior insulation. The comparison was based on technical aspects such as mass per square meter, coefficient of thermal transmission, isolation to airborne sounds and cost per square meter. |
