Focos de incêndio no Concelho de Valongo: contributo para a cartografia de áreas de risco

Abstract

Os incêndios florestais são um dos principais problemas socioeconómicos e ambientais que ocorrem em Portugal. Com o trabalho desenvolvido pretendemos analisar a problemática dos incêndios florestais no concelho de Valongo, dando particular atenção aos focos de incêndio, tentando contribuir para a cartografia de áreas de risco deste concelho. Começamos por descrever o “estado da arte” sobre os incêndios florestais, resultado da pesquisa bibliográfica realizada e, em seguida, analisamos a evolução temporal e repartição espacial dos incêndios florestais em Portugal Continental por distrito e, depois, nos concelhos pertencentes ao distrito do Porto. No que diz respeito ao concelho de Valongo analisamos a distribuição espacial e evolução temporal dos incêndios florestais de forma a perceber em que locais eles são mais frequentes. Fizemos, também, uma análise às causas dos incêndios florestais para tentar perceber qual a origem deste tipo de fenómeno no concelho. Relativamente aos focos de incêndio em Valongo entre 2008 e 2012 observamos em qual ano se registaram mais e, também, qual a freguesia que apresentou o maior número de focos em cada ano e no total dos cinco anos. Com base nesta informação apresentamos uma proposta para a cartografia de áreas de risco onde identificamos a perigosidade de incêndios florestais e as áreas com prioridade de vigilância.

Forest fires are a major socio-economic and environmental problem occurring in Portugal. With this work we intend to analyze the problem of forest fires in Valongo, paying special attention to the fire outbreaks, trying to contribute to the mapping of risk areas. We begin by describing the "state of the art" about the forest fires, the result of literature review, and then we analyzed the temporal evolution and spatial distribution of forest fires in Portugal districts and then in the municipalities belonging to the district of Porto. In Valongo we analyze the spatial distribution and temporal evolution of forest fires in order to understand in which locations they are more frequent. Also we analyzed the causes of forest fires to try to understand the origin of this kind of phenomenon in Valongo. Regarding fire outbreaks in Valongo between 2008 and 2012 we observed in which year there were more and also what parish that had the largest number of fire outbreaks in each year and the total of the five years. Based on this information we proposed a mapping of risk areas identifying the danger of forest fire and the priority areas for surveillance.
