Da diversidade do mundo ao mundo diverso da lusofonia: a reinvenção de uma comunidade geocultural na sociedade em rede

Abstract

A partir de três conceções distintas sobre a relação entre poder e diversidade – dominação, integração e descoberta – é desenvolvida uma narrativa pluridimensional sobre a expansão marítima portuguesa e o império colonial que a mesma fundou, na ótica da comunicação intercultural. Tal narrativa é entendida como fundamental para a compreensão do passado histórico da comunidade geocultural da lusofonia, aqui entendida como “comunidade imaginada”, apesar das possibilidades que lhe são oferecidas por uma língua comum e pela diversidade de culturas que a caracteriza. Por sua vez, a diversidade desta comunidade de culturas é inquirida a partir da oportunidade de esta se constituir como um movimento de resistência à “culturamundo”, no atual momento histórico marcado pela globalização. Este exercício é também desenvolvido a partir das mesmas três conceções sobre a relação entre poder e diversidade – dominação, integração e descoberta – de modo a dar conta das diferentes narrativas produzidas sobre o sentido da lusofonia. Entretanto, a sociedade em rede, ao estabelecer o paradigma sociotécnico do nosso tempo, criou um novo ecossistema comunicacional que, ao fazer soar diferentes vozes sem qualquer controlo editorial, permite que as comunidades se revigorem através da produção de narrativas diversas sobre a sua própria história. A partir desta perspetiva, é lançada a hipótese de a comunidade geocultural da lusofonia poder reinventar-se na sociedade em rede, não só por via da sua expressiva representatividade nos ambientes digitais, como também por via da sua própria diversidade. Esta hipótese foi testada através de uma investigação empírica que procurou elaborar uma cartografia parcial do ciberespaço lusófono, bem como analisar os discursos que as diferentes vozes aí presentes produzem sobre a história e a vida da comunidade de povos de língua portuguesa. Sem que esta investigação pudesse confirmar respostas definitivas, conclui-se pela possibilidade de reinvenção da comunidade geocultural da lusofonia na sociedade em rede, que assim vê aumentado o seu potencial de resistência à mundialização da cultura.

Departing from three different conceptions about the relationship between power and diversity - domination, integration and discovery - a narrative is developed on the multidimensional vision of the Portuguese expansion and the colonial empire that it founded, under the perspective of intercultural communication. This narrative is seen as key to a better knowledge about the history of the geo-cultural community of lusophonia, understood as "imagined community", despite its possibilities by a common language and the diversity of cultures that characterizes it. In turn, the diversity of cultures in this community is explored from the opportunity to constitute itself as a resistance movement to the "culture - world" in the current historical moment marked by globalization. This step is also developed from the same three conceptions about the relationship between power and diversity - domination, integration and discovery - in order to cope with the different narratives produced about the Lusophonia meaning. Meanwhile, the network society, the socio-technical paradigm of our time, created a new communication ecosystem that doing different voices sound without any editorial control, allows communities to reinvigorate by producing diverse narratives about its own history. From this perspective, it is hypothesized that the geo-cultural community of lusophonia is able to reinvent itself in the network society, not only through its expressive representation in digital environments, as well as through its own diversity. This hypothesis was tested during an empirical research, which sought to establish a partial mapping of lusophone cyberspace, as well as analyze the discourses produced by different voices about the history and life of the community of Portuguese-speaking people. As this research could not confirm definitive answers, it is concluded by the possibility of geo-cultural community of lusophonia reinvetion in the network society, consequently increasing its potential for the resistance to globalization of culture.
