A eficácia da WebQuest no tema “Nós e o Universo” usando uma metodologia numa perspectiva CTS : um estudo de caso com alunos do 8º ano de escolaridade

Abstract

O século XX foi muito fértil em mudanças tecnológicas que tiveram um profundo impacto no dia-a-dia das pessoas. Mas o ensino da ciência não acompanhou estas transformações. Para promover uma mudança, o Ministério da Educação alterou o currículo da disciplina de Ciências Físico-Químicas, centrando-o na preparação do aluno para uma aprendizagem ao longo da vida, com o ensino da Ciência numa perspectiva CTS e apelando à utilização das Tecnologias da Informação e Comunicação. O trabalho que aqui se apresenta surgiu da necessidade do investigador alterar as suas prática educativas. Esta urgência ficou ainda mais premente com as alterações do currículo. Assim, o objectivo deste estudo foi: desenvolver actividades para WWW de apoio à unidade temática “Nós e o Universo”, estruturadas de acordo com os princípios da educação CTS e também criar páginas para a web, com as características das WebQuest; avaliar as potencialidades da metodologia utilizada, centrando-se na motivação dos alunos para a aprendizagem. Para avaliação da aplicação da metodologia, os dados foram recolhidos através de um questionário escrito e que foi complementado pelo registo de acontecimentos e de observações na sala de aula por parte do investigador. A análise dos resultados obtidos revelou que a metodologia seguida contribuiu para a motivação dos alunos para a aprendizagem das ciências. Apesar das limitações do estudo, os dados recolhidos reforçam a ideia de que a metodologia seguida contribuiu para um aumento da literacia científica e tecnológica dos alunos.

The twentieth century was very fertile in technological changes, that had a deep impact in people's life. But the teaching of the science didn't follow these transformations. To implement a change, the Education Office altered the curriculum of the discipline of Physics-Chemical Sciences. The curriculum is now centered in the student's preparation for a long life learning, with the teaching of the Science in a perspective STS and appealing to the use of the Technologies of the Information and Communication. The work presented here emerged from the author’s need to change his own educational practice. This was even more urgent due to the alterations of the curriculum. So, the objective of this study was: to develop activities for WWW to be a support of the thematic unit “We and the Universe", structured according to the STS perspective and also to create web pages, with the characteristics of the WebQuest; to evaluate the potentialities of the used methodology, stressing students' motivation for learning. For the evaluation of the application of this methodology, the data were collected through a written questionnaire and that it was complemented by recording of the students’ reactions towards this new teaching methodology. The results revealed that this methodology contributed to the students' involvement in the teaching-learning process, motivating them for the learning of the sciences. In spite of the limitations of this work, the collected data reinforce the idea that this methodology contributed to an increase of the students’ scientific and technological literacy.
