dc.description.abstract | This paper presents the results of a comparative research carried out on a Portuguese and Romanian written press corpus extracted from two prominent daily newspapers between January‑December 2008. The excerpted corpus which thematically deals with the problem of children exposed to or subjected to danger or abuse, is approached from the perspective of the polyphonic heterogeneity concept as developed by Bakhtine (1930), Authier‑Revuz (1982, 1984, 1992), Ducrot (1984, 1995), Moirand (1999), Duarte (2003). We aim at analyzing the mechanisms pointing to the presence of a previous enunciator who may be traced through the voice of the actual speaker (a mark of heterogeneity). Moreover, the paper attempts at highlighting the specific structure as well as the particular discursive development that the presence of a previous enunciator adopts in the excerpts under study. Our assumption is that the different types of reported discourse are endowed with rhetorical function, namely to better sustain the journalist’s argumentation. | por |
