Cultura raver : estudo siciológico sobre os consumos de droga e os estilos de vida das tribos pós-modernas

Abstract

A cultura, bem como os estilos de vidas das pessoas que a consomem, são temas cada vez mais atuais e presentes nas sociedades. A cultura deixou de ser um fator reservado, que se restringia a apenas algumas classes, passando assim para um sistema aberto, onde as classes menos favorecidas do ponto de vista cultural e económico podem consumir e participar livremente. Desta forma, os consumidores de cultura, principalmente da cultura raver, são caraterizados por comportamentos, estilos de vida, classes sociais e consumos de drogas distintos. O meu objetivo será expor e dar a entender os principais motivos que levam os públicos a consumirem este tipo de cultura específica. Sabemos que as drogas estão instrinsecamente associadas às raves, mas, não sabemos se o consumo destas mesmas é o principal motivo que leva os indivíduos a frequentarem este tipo de festas e se os consumos de drogas variam conforme as raves. Numa primeira perspetiva, os indivíduos deixam-se levar pela ideia dos facilitismos dos estupfacientes que as raves oferecem, sendo as drogas o único meio possivel de concretizarem as suas fantasias e realizarem o seu imagínario utópico. Porém noutra perspetiva as raves são um meio onde se inserem inúmeras formas de “socialidade”. Além da distinção de públicos que encontramos nas raves, podemos verificar que também proporcionam uma vivência coletiva, aberta à manifestação tribal e aos diversos agrupamentos, no seu seio. Os ravers encontram interesses comuns aos atores sociais presentes nas festas, partilhando os mesmos estilos de vida, gostos, consumos e êxtases coletivos. Para a realização deste trabalho são principalmente referidos autores como Bourdieu, Maffesoli, Rabot, Xiberras, Simmel, Durkheim.

Culture, as much as the lifestyle of the people who consume it, are often mentioned themes in our contemporary society. Culture has moved on to be available to the less favored classes, who are now able to participate and consume it. Thus, culture consumers, mainly from the raver culture, are characterized for specific behaviors, lifestyle, social classes and drug use. The aim of this master dissertation is to understand the main reasons that get the audience/public to consume this kind of culture. It is known that drugs are intrinsically associated with the raves, but it is not clear yet if drug use is the main reason that leads individuals to take part in this kind of parties nor it is not clear if the drug use behavior varies from rave to rave. Our analysis indicate that individuals are taken by the idea of the easy solutions offered by drugs, which are the only possible way of making their fantasies real and bringing the utopic imaginary into reality. In another perspective, raves are a manifestation, where a numerous forms of “sociality” take place. Besides the variety of audiences that can be found at the raves, we verified that a collective experience takes place, leaving open a space to tribal manifestations and diverse group formations. Ravers find common interests with the other social actors at the parties to share lifestyle, interests, consumptions, and collective ecstasy. In order to analyze the data collected at the raves, we used the works of authors such as Bourdieu, Maffesoli, Rabot, Xiberras, Simmel and Durkheim.
