da metodologia before and after e diference-in-differences foi estudado o impacto dessa reforma,
On the first of January 2001 China, the world largest economy in terms of trade of textiles products and clothing, became an integral part of the World Trade Organization, and a special safeguard over Chinese textiles and clothing products was established. I employ before and after and difference-in-differences methodologies to study the impact of this reform on the level of employment and productivity of the textile and clothing sector located in the northern of Portugal. Using as control groups companies from footwear industry in the northern of Portugal and one random sample of 30% of companies of manufacturing industry (outside the textiles and clothing industry) in Portugal mainland, I find an ambiguous impact on the level of employment and a negative and robust impact on productivity in the textiles and clothing industry. |
