O impacto da Rádio Universitária do Minho nos estudantes da Universidade do Minho

Abstract

A escolha do "Impacto da Rádio Universitária do Minho nos estudantes da Universidade do Minho" surge através do estágio curricular realizado na RUM aliado à importância de, pela primeira vez na Universidade do Minho (UM) se estudar a ligação dos estudantes com a rádio e vice-versa. A Rádio Universitária do Minho divide opiniões. Apesar de o mesmo acontecer com outras rádios, a RUM através do seu estilo musical alternativo fica ainda mais longe de um possível consenso. Se por um lado muitos estudantes se identificam com a RUM tendo em conta o estilo alternativo e completamente distinto de 90% das rádios portuguesas, por outro, esta diferença é o motivo para também muitos jovens não gostarem de ouvir a rádio. Perceber se os estudantes se identificam com a RUM e a forma como olham a rádio é então o principal motivo para o desenvolvimento desta dissertação. Para a obtenção de respostas a este grande objetivo, o inquérito é a metodologia indicada para "falar" com os estudantes e perceber o que pensam da 97.5 FM. De entre os cerca de 16 mil alunos que frequentam a Universidade do Minho, a opção passou por inquirir alunos que façam parte da academia minhota há mais de um ano. O núcleo de inquiridos situou-se assim nos alunos finalistas de todas as licenciaturas e alunos de quarto ano de mestrados integrados, que no total eram no ano letivo de 2010/2011 dois mil oitocentos e vinte e sete. De acordo com os resultados os estudantes estão familiarizados com a RUM mas não consideram a programação da RUM a ideal. Por isso mesmo não ouvem nem acompanham o trabalho desenvolvido. O estudo que se segue comprova ainda que os hábitos dos jovens continuam a mudar, e se até há uns anos atrás uma rádio era "essencial" para o dia-a-dia, hoje os estudantes não elegem essa opção. A conclusão desta dissertação revela que há muito trabalho a desenvolver por parte da RUM caso pretenda aliciar os estudantes dos dias de hoje a acompanhar o trabalho que é feito. Para além disso é evidente que o estudante da Universidade do Minho não procura conhecer melhor o trabalho desenvolvido pela Rádio Universitária do Minho.

The choice of the "Impact of Rádio Universitária do Minho on students at the University of Minho" comes through curricular internship at RUM associated to the importance to study the connection of students with the radio, for the first time at the University of Minho. The opinion about RUM gathers no consensus. Although the same happen with other radios, the RUM though its alternative music style is further away from a possible consensus. If on one side many students identify with the RUM alternative style, different of 90% of Portuguese radios, on the other side this alternative style is also the reason that many young people do not like to hear RUM. To understand if students identify themselves with RUM and the way they think about RUM is the main reason for the development of this dissertation. To obtain answers to this goal, the methodology indicated for this survey is "talk" with students and understand the way they think about 97.5 FM. Of the approximately sixteen thousand students attending the University of Minho, the option went through ask students who are part the Minho Academy for over a year. Therefore, the core of people interviewed stood at student finalists of all undergraduate and fourth year integrated master‟s, which in total were in the 2010/2011 school year two thousand eight hundred twentyseven. According to the results the students are familiar with RUM but they do not consider the scheduling the ideal. That‟s why they don‟t like and follow RUM. For students of the University of Minho, RUM studio should be installed inside the campus. In general listening radio is not a frequent habit among students. The following survey confirms that the habits of young people keep changing. Only a few years ago radio was essential for the day to day, nowadays students do not listen radio with the same frequency. The conclusion of this dissertation reveals that RUM needs to work hard to attract students of the University of Minho. Also it is evident that the students of the University of Minho do not seek to know the scheduling.
