dc.description.abstract | In the rural Angolan context predominates a traditional culture, with their socializing practices for the preservation of identity. The socialization of children, particularly girls, is made in the context of tradition, supported by initiation rites and based on discrimination of women whose fate is mapped out: to be a housewife, wife and mother whose life is subject to the logic of male domination. With this paper we intend to discuss the infl uence of cultural tradition in the socialization in the Angolan rural community where there is the prejudice of male superiority which aff ects the social construction of gender, understood from the notions of “habitus” of Bourdieu, “cultural hegemony” of Gramsci, and “psychic prison” of Morgan. In this context, the function of rural Angolan women is confi ned to the household world, and it therefore denied the assumption of a community citizenship under conditions of equal rights. | por |
