O conto musical narrado na história da literatura musical portuguesa para a infância [1959-2009] : estudo das relações entre texto literário e musical

Abstract

Nos últimos anos o repertório musical para a infância tem sido alvo do interesse de investigadores, agentes culturais, compositores e músicos de diferentes áreas. O presente trabalho de investigação insere-se nesse contexto através do estudo de um género musical dirigido ao público infantil, o conto musical narrado, que tem a sua história circunscrita aos séculos XX e XXI. O primeiro exemplo conhecido pertence ao compositor Sergei Prokofiev, que escreve O Pedro e o Lobo, música e conto, em 1936. Em Portugal surge apenas em 1959 com a obra de Fernando Lopes- Graça A Menina do Mar, a partir de conto homónimo de Sophia de Mello Breyner Andresen. Vários compositores experimentaram este género musical em todo o mundo e particularmente em Portugal. Não existindo ainda um trabalho de investigação em torno deste género musical, é nosso propósito traçar a sua história especialmente em Portugal de 1959 a 2009, a partir de um estudo histórico e conceptual e da caracterização musical e contextual de uma selecção de obras de compositores portugueses. Procuraremos analisar e apresentar a abordagem de cada compositor à relação entre música e texto e a proximidade ou afastamento relativamente ao primeiro exemplo amplamente divulgado, o de Prokofiev. Pretendemos assim produzir conhecimento novo na área do repertório musical para a infância, em particular do género conto musical narrado, através de um estudo aprofundado com um enfoque especial na obra de compositores portugueses.

In recent years the musical repertoire for children has been subject of interest of investigators, cultural agents, composers and musicians of different areas. The present research work is inserted in this context, with a study of a genre aimed at children, the musical tale with narrator, that has its circumscribed history on the XX and XXI centuries. The first known example belongs to the composer Sergei Prokofiev, who wrote Peter and the Wolf, a symphonic musical tale, in 1936. In Portugal this genre only appeared in 1959 with the work of Fernando Lopes-Graça A Menina do Mar, from the homonymous tale of Sophia de Mello Breyner Andresen. Several composers have experienced this kind of musical genre around the world and particularly in Portugal. Considering that still exists an extensive study in this fiel to be done, it is intention of this work tracing its history, specially in Portugal from 1959 to 2009, through a historical and conceptual study and characterization of a musical and contextual selection of works by Portuguese composers. Sensing each composer's approach to the genre, in the relationship between music and text and the proximity or remoteness from the first widely publicized example - Prokofiev’s Peter and the Wolf. Therefore we intend to produce knowledge in the field of portuguese musical literature for children, particularly in the genre musical tale with narrator.
