| Resumo(s): | The performance of polymer/clay nanocomposites (PCNs) depends on the clay dispersion levels in the matrix. This work uses on-line Near-Infrared (NIR) spectroscopy to monitor the evolution of mixing upon the preparation of polymer nanocomposites by melt mixing. The corresponding chemometric model uses parameters derived from oscillatory rheometry and FT-IR and from data provided by the compounding equipment. The method is successfully validated in the case of PP and PA6 nanocomposites prepared under different operating conditions. |
