The generations attending the Portuguese primary school today are the so called digital natives or net genners that learn in a different way from the previous generations. The new generations learn through games and don’t want to be amorphous information repository. On the contrary, they are mentally actives and question makers and it is likely that many of them will have jobs that still don’t exist. On the other hand, we live in a pluricultural and plurilinguistic Europe where early language learning is urgent in the knowledge society with a strong virtual component in which the most used language is the English language. In Portugal since some time that the English language is part of the elementary school as an extra-curricular activity. Still the materials used are diffuse. In this course and regarding that the ICT curricular integration is primordial in the new generations’ formation and according to the new learning paradigms makes all the sense to integrate the two fundamental foundations of future’s citizens and professionals in the same purpose: to learn the English language with the support of ICT mainly the online support. In this scope it is intended to analyze three websites to teach and learn the English Language in the elementary school. The websites are analyzed according to Gilutz and Nielsen guidelines to the children’s websites usability and in accordance to the Orientações Programáticas to the English learning language in the elementary school. |
