A tradução e a linguística de corpus: uma experiência de estágio na AP|Portugal

Abstract

O presente relatório visa apresentar e analisar os projetos realizados e a experiência de estágio curricular com a duração de seis meses, realizado na empresa de serviçoslinguísticos AP|Portugal - Tech Language Solutions e inserido no Mestrado em Tradução e Comunicação Multilingue da Universidade do Minho. O tema central deste relatório, tendo como base as tipologias tradutórias trabalhadas, foca-se na análise multinível dos textos trabalhados enquanto tradutora, e a respetiva interligação que a tradução tem com a linguística de corpus, com especial enfoque na deteção de padrões linguísticos. O relatório focar-se-á, inicialmente, na contextualização teórica da Tradução, da Linguística de corpus e da forma como estas disciplinas se interligam e entreajudam. Para além disso, conta com a descrição da instituição de acolhimento, explicitando a extensão e variedade de projetos e serviços prestados pela mesma, assim como uma apresentação das tarefas desempenhadas ao longo do estágio. Adicionalmente, serão analisados exemplos práticos dos trabalhos realizados, seguindo-se a análise multinível e apresentação dos corpora, terminando com o registo de conclusões acerca dos padrões e níveis de ocorrências da linguagem técnica em duas línguas distintas. Por fim, serão apresentadas as considerações finais relativamente à experiência obtida através do estágio curricular, refletindo sobre o conhecimento adquirido e as competências desenvolvidas.

This report aims to present and analyse the projects conducted and the experience of the six month curricular internship at the language services company AP|Portugal - Tech Language Solutions, within the scope of the Master's in Translation and Multilingual Communication at the University of Minho. The scope of this report, having as a base the translation typologies worked on, focuses on the multi-level analysis of the texts worked on as a translator, and the respective interconnection that translation has with corpus linguistics, with a special focus on the detection of linguistic patterns. The report will initially focus on the theoretical contextualisation of translation, corpus linguistics and how these subjects interconnect and help each other. It also includes a description of the host institution, explaining the extent and variety of projects and services it provides, as well as a presentation of the tasks fulfilled during the internship. In addition, some translation problems will be analysed, followed by presentation and the multilevel analysis of our corpora, and concluding about the patterns and levels of occurrences present on technical language. Finally, conclusions will be drawn regarding the experience gained during the internship, while reflecting on the knowledge acquired and the skills developed.
