Portugal e a minha terra – Construindo aprendizagens significativas através do ensino do meio local

Abstract

O presente documento trata-se de um relatório reflexivo acerca da prática pedagógica no 1º e 2º Ciclo do Ensino Básico, na disciplina de História e Geografia de Portugal, no âmbito da prática de ensino supervisionada do Mestrado em Ensino do 1º Ciclo do Ensino Básico e de Português e História e Geografia de Portugal do 2º Ciclo do Ensino Básico, da Universidade do Minho. Escolhi como tema para este relatório “Portugal e a Minha Terra – Construindo Aprendizagens Significativas através do Ensino do Meio Local”, tendo como objetivo compreender a importância do Meio Local para a construção de aprendizagens significativas. A compreensão a que se objetiva chegar passa, também, por comparar a motivação e empenho dos alunos nas diferentes matérias quando estas se relacionam de alguma forma com a sua história, localidade ou quotidiano. Este estudo procurou seguir um paradigma construtivista, centrado no aluno, procurando partir sempre das suas ideias prévias, visando reformular ou aprimorar esses seus conceitos. Neste estudo procurou-se sempre, também, valorizar a expressão oral e a construção de um pensamento crítico, valorizando/objetivando a aquisição de conhecimentos históricos e geográficos relacionados com a área curricular de História e Geografia de Portugal do 1º e 2º Ciclo do Ensino Básico. Este projeto foi desenvolvido numa escola privada no 1º Ciclo e numa escola pública no 2º Ciclo. A primeira localiza-se em Póvoa de Varzim e a segunda na Trofa. No 1º Ciclo a turma detinha 21 alunos entre os cinco e os seis anos de idade, e a prática deteve-se sobre o conteúdo “A Casa”, na área curricular de Estudo do Meio. No 2º Ciclo o estágio supervisionado foi realizado em três turmas distintas com o objetivo de intensificar a experiência, tornando-a mais enriquecedora. Duas dessas turmas são de 6º ano e uma é de 5º ano. A turma de 5º ano tem 22 alunos, tendo a prática se focado nos temas “A crise do século XIV” e “Os descobrimentos”. Uma das turmas de 6º ano tem 27 alunos, sendo que o tema na sua prática foi “O Estado Novo”, e a outra, 22 alunos, tendo o conteúdo lecionado sido “O 25 de abril de 1974”. Esta investigação permitiu chegar à conclusão que o estudo do Meio Local é muito relevante e motivador para os alunos no contexto de estudo de conteúdos de Geografia.

The present document is a reflective report about the pedagogical practice in 1 st and 2nd cycles of Basic Education, in the subject of History and Geography of Portugal, in the context of supervised professional practice in the Master Course on Teaching the 1st cycle of Basic Education and Portuguese and History and Geography of Portugal of the 2nd cycle of Basic Education, at Minho University. I chose as a theme of this report “Portugal and My Land – building meaningful learning through teaching the Local Environment”, having as a goal to understand the relevance of the Local Environment in the building of meaningful learning. The understanding that we want to reach is connected, also, with comparison of the motivation and commitment of pupils in different contents when they are related, in some way, with history, locality and everyday life of pupils. This study tried to follow a constructivist paradigm, centered in pupils, trying always start from their prior ideas and aiming to reframe and improve their concepts. In this study we tried always to value the oral expression and building of a critical thinking, valuing/aiming the acquisition of historical and geographical knowledge connected with curricular area of History and Geography of Portugal in the 1st and 2nd cycles of Basic Education. This project was developed in a private school in the 1st cycle and in a public school in the 2nd cycle. The first one is located in Póvoa de Varzim and the second in Trofa. In the 1st cycle the classroom had 21 pupils between five and six years old and the practice was centered in the content “The House”, in the curricular area of Environment Study. In the 2nd cycle the supervised internship was done in three different classrooms with the aim of intensify the experience, making it more enriching. Two of these classrooms are of 6th grade and one of 5th grade. The classroom of 5th grade has 22 pupils and the practice was focused in the themes “The crisis of XIV century” and “The Discoveries”. One classroom and 6th grade had 27 pupils and we practiced there the topic “The New State” and, in the other one, with 22 pupils, the taught content was “The 25th April of 1974”. This research allows us to arrive to the conclusion that the study of Local Environment is very relevant and motivating for pupils in the context of learning of Geography contents.
