A poesia em tempo de pandemia (Manuel Alegre e Nuno Júdice)

Abstract

No contexto pandémico, o mundo da poesia e da literatura foi, também, apanhado de surpresa. Se noutros tempos, de outras guerras com inimigos visíveis, os poetas ergueram a sua espada e combateram o inimigo, desta vez o adversário era outro: um vírus invisível e silencioso. Em julho e novembro de 2020 Nuno Júdice e Manuel Alegre editaram, respetivamente, um livro de poesia - Regresso a Um Cenário Campestre e Quando. Dois autores que confluíram para um ponto comum: a pandemia. E se Júdice mantém características, traços da sua estética - os cenários outonais ou crepusculares - conjugando-os com a nova realidade, com um regresso campestre que se espera revigorante e promissor, Alegre não canta o seu “país de abril”, mas um país “cinzento”. As referências a grandes figuras literárias e/ou mitológicas dão continuidade a uma linha temática do autor e o modo como vê o mundo e o seu país revelam uma dimensão antiépica (de um eu angustiado perante um presente avassalador, embora convicto de que “a poesia é poder”).

During the pandemic, poetry and literature were also caught by surprise. If in past times poets raised their swords and fought against visible enemies, this time the enemy was another: an invisible and silent virus. In July and November of 2020 Nuno Júdice and Manuel Alegre published, respectively, one poetry book – Regresso a Um Cenário Campestre and Quando. Both authors converged to a single common point: the pandemic. While Júdice keeps traces of his aesthetic – scenes of Autumn and twilight – combining them with the new reality, with a bucolic return which awaits rejuvenating and promising, Alegre does not proclaim his “country of April” anymore, but a “grey” one. References to major literature figures and/or mythological ones give continuity to a thematic line of the author, and the way he sees the world and his nation reveals an antiepic dimension (of a disturbed self before a crushing present, although convinced that “poetry is power”).
