Sollar do Rêgo: uma viagem ao longo dos tempos, de 1915 à contemporaneidade

Abstract

O palácio da Dona Chica é um edifício concebido, em 1915, por Ernesto Korrodi e corresponde a um exemplar único e paradigmático de uma “habitação nobre de província”, onde impera um extravagante ecletismo que prima pela utilização de elementos neogóticos, românticos, neoclássicos, neoárabes, rústicos e novíssimo ferro. Partindo do geral para o particular, procuramos realizar um levantamento exaustivo de toda a informação existente sobre esta obra. Ao longo dos diferentes capítulos procuramos compreender e caracterizar as diferentes fases vividas pelo imóvel, aferindo numa primeira instância a importância do património arquitetónico, apresentando as plantas concebidas por Ernesto Korrodi, no ano de 1915, e posteriormente, as alterações feitas por Paulo Tornet, em meados de 1988. Foi também realizada uma análise histórica, explorando a vida familiar de João José Ferreira Rêgo e de sua mulher Francisca Peixoto do Rêgo, mas também dos restantes proprietários, apresentando os respetivos contratos de compra de compra e venda do imóvel (1934), e contrato de promessa de arrendamento, realizado a 15 de abril de 1988, bem como entrevistas realizadas a residentes na freguesia e que falam sobre a sua relação com o imóvel. A concretização destes objetivos foi realizada através de uma metodologia qualitativa fundamentada na recolha de diferentes fontes, entre elas documentais, orais e visuais, bem como o estudo de toda a evolução arquitetónica e construtiva inerente ao edificado, de modo a realizar uma cronologia histórico-temporal, mas também através de uma análise empírica do espaço, que incluiu o estudo deste imóvel in loco e a realização de entrevistas aos habitantes locais.

The palace of Dona Chica is a building designed by Ernesto Korrodi, in 1915, and corresponds to a unique and paradigmatic example of a “noble provincial dwelling”, where an extravagant eclecticism prevails, which excels in the use of neo-Gothic, romantic elements, neoclassical, neo-Arab, rustic and brand new iron. Starting from the general to the specific, we try to carry out an exhaustive survey of all the existing information about this building, throughout the chapters we try to understand about the different phases of the property, assessing in a first instance the importance of the architectural heritage, presenting the plans conceived by Ernesto Korrodi, in 1915, and later, the changes made by Paulo Tornet, in mid-1988. Furthermore, a historical analysis was carried out, exploring the family life of João José Ferreira Rêgo and his wife Francisca Peixoto do Rêgo, but also of the other owners, presenting the respective purchase and sale contracts of the property (year of one thousand nine hundred and thirty-four), and the lease agreement, signed on April fifteenth of one thousand nine hundred and eighty-eight eight, as well as interviews with people residing in the parish, who talk about their relationship with the property. The achievement of these objectives was carried out through a qualitative methodology based on the collection of different sources, including documents, oral and visual, as well as the study of the entire architectural and constructive evolution inherent to the building, in order to carry out a historical-temporal chronology, but also through the empirical analysis of the space, which includes studying this property in loco, as well as conducting interviews with the locals.
