O discurso de ódio em comunicação mediada por computador: deteção e identificação de marcadores textuais

Abstract

O objetivo desta dissertação é detetar e identificar marcadores textuais de discurso de ódio em comunicação mediada por computador (CMC), mais especificamente, em cadeias de interações textuais presentes nos comentários de certos vídeos com conteúdo de ódio do Youtube. Trabalharemos com um subcorpus do projeto de investigação NETLANG, intitulado The Language of Cyberbullying: Forms and Mechanisms of Online Prejudice and Discrimination in Annotated Comparable Corpora of Portuguese and English (s.d.) sediado no Centro de Estudos Humanísticos da Universidade do Minho. Este subcorpus é de língua portuguesa, composto por comentários de vídeos de Youtube, presentes na área etiquetada como preconceito “Racismo”, da variável sociolinguística “Roma” (referindo se ao racismo contra a comunidade cigana). Pretendemos identificar e classificar marcadores de discurso de ódio, analisar quantitativa e qualitativamente discursos de ódio em CMC. O principal desafio será analisar e classificar traços linguísticos que distinguem o discurso não ódio do discurso de ódio, por meio do modelo de análise desenvolvido ao longo deste projeto, e formalizá-los, para, mais tarde, ser possível analisar automaticamente os marcadores de ódio presentes em interações discursivas textuais em CMC.

The aim of this dissertation is to detect and identify textual markers of hate speech in computer-mediated communication (CMC), more specifically, in chains of textual interactions present in the comments of certain videos with hate content on Youtube. We will work with a subcorpus from the NETLANG research project, entitled The Language of Cyberbullying: Forms and Mechanisms of Online Prejudice and Discrimination in Annotated Comparable Corpora of Portuguese and English (n.d.) based at the Centre for Humanistic Studies at the University of Minho. The subcorpus is in Portuguese language, composed of video comments present in the area labelled as prejudice "Racism”, of the sociolinguistic variable "Roma” (referring then to racism against the Roma community). We intend to identify and classify markers of hate speech, analyse quantitatively and qualitatively hate speech in CMC. The main challenge will be to analyse and classify linguistic features that distinguish non-hate speech from hate speech, by means of the analysis model developed throughout this project, and to formalize them, so that, later on, it will be possible to automatically analyse the hate markers present in textual discursive interactions in CMC.
