O uso da plataforma ChatClass no aprimoramento da competência oral em língua inglesa por parte de estudantes brasileiros: um estudo exploratório

Abstract

O crescente uso da tecnologia já tornou parte do nosso cotidiano, tanto na vida social quanto na vida acadêmica. A grande presença das TDIC na rotina de docentes e discentes nos fez repensar a maneira de como melhorar o ensino e aprendizagem das habilidades linguísticas na língua inglesa, especificamente a habilidade/competência de expressão oral. O objetivo deste trabalho foi estudar o uso da plataforma ChatClass, em um contexto de mobile learning, para analisar o seu potencial no desenvolvimento na habilidade/competência de expressão oral em língua inglesa. Inserido nesse âmbito, o mobile learning pode ser uma possibilidade no aprimoramento do processo de ensino e aprendizagem, podendo utilizar-se de aplicativos ou plataformas digitais para facilitar a aprendizagem. A ChatClass é uma plataforma que funciona através do aplicativo de mensagens WhatsApp e que utiliza inteligência artificial, permitindo uma interação à distância entre aluno e professor, aluno e aluno, além de interação com outros usuários da plataforma. Nesse sentido desenvolveu-se um estudo exploratório no qual foram aplicados dois questionários acerca das atividades orais com e sem o uso da plataforma. Com os resultados obtidos foi possível perceber que uso do mobile learning, utilizando a plataforma ChatClass, conseguiu auxiliar os alunos numa melhoria da habilidade de expressão oral.

The growing use of technology has become part of our daily lives, both in social and academic life. The large presence of TDIC in the routine of teachers and students made us rethink how to improve the teaching and learning of linguistic skills in the English language, specifically the oral ability/competence The aim of this work was to study the use of ChatClass platform, in a mobile learning context, to analyze the potential of development oral ability/competence in English Language. Insert in this scope, mobile learning can be a possibility to improve the teaching and learning process, being able to use applications or digital platforms to facilitate learning. ChatClass is a platform that works through the WhatsApp messaging application and that uses artificial intelligence, allowing a distance interaction between student and teacher, student and student, as well as interaction with other platform users. In this way, an exploratory study was developed in which two questionnaires were applied about oral activities with and without the use of the platform. With the results obtained, it was possible to realize that the use of mobile learning, using the ChatClass platform, was able to help students improve their oral ability.
