A importância da responsabilidade social nas organizações da economia social: o caso das IPSS

Abstract

Atualmente as organizações de economia social têm um papel fundamental para a sociedade em geral. Na maior parte das vezes, as organizações de economia social são o único refúgio para todos os indivíduos, que por alguma razão, precisam de ajuda para colmatar as suas necessidades financeiras e sociais. Neste ponto a responsabilidade social consiste num pilar fundamental para estas organizações sendo as suas atividades orientadas para a concretização de práticas de responsabilidade social. A presente dissertação tem como objetivo entender a importância das práticas de responsabilidade social nas organizações de economia social, mais concretamente nas Instituições Particulares de Solidariedade Social. No contexto da economia social é feita uma revisão da literatura sobre as Instituições Particulares de Solidariedade Social, o terceiro sector, o conceito de responsabilidade social e as suas práticas (teoria dos stakeholders e responsabilidade social corporativa). Quanto à metodologia, e como é de interesse conhecer uma realidade mais concreta, o estudo de caso tornou-se a melhor opção. Os dados foram recolhidos a partir de entrevistas realizadas aos representantes das Instituições Particulares de Solidariedade Social. Os resultados deste estudo permitiram conhecer melhor as Instituições Particulares de Solidariedade Social e a importância que a responsabilidade social tem nas organizações de economia social.

Nowadays social economy organizations play a key role for society at large. Most of the times social economy organizations are the only refuge for all individuals, who for some reason need help to meet their financial and social needs. At this point, social responsibility is a fundamental pillar for these organizations and their activities are geared towards the implementation of social responsibility practices. This dissertation aims to understand the importance of social responsibility practices in social economy organizations, more specifically in the Private Institutions of Social Solidarity. In the context of the social economy, a review of the literature on Private Institutions of Social Solidarity is made, as well as a review of the literature of the third sector, the concept of social responsibility and it practices (stakeholders theory and corporative social responsibility). As for the methodology, and how it is of interest to know a more concrete reality, the case study has become the best option. Data were collected from interviews with representatives of Private Social Solidarity Institutions. The results of this study made it possible to better know the Private Institutions of Social Solidarity and the importance that social responsibility has in social economy organizations.
