O Rio Leça: utilização como recurso didáctico em educação ambiental

Abstract

O trabalho tem em vista os seguintes objectivos gerais: - Caracterizar a bacia hidrográfica do Leça nos seguintes aspectos: geografia, hidrologia, geomorfologia e geologia. - Conhecer o passado do rio e um pouco da sua história. - Inventariar acções de degradação, de defesa e de protecção ao longo dos anos. - Caracterizar química e bacteriologicamente a água do rio em quatro pontos distintos. - Investigar na população estudantil dos concelhos por onde passa, o grau de conhecimento e de interesse pelo rio. - Investigar, na classe docente, do grau de conhecimento acerca do rio e da sua utilização como recurso didáctico. - Auscultar a opinião pública acerca da situação passada e presente do rio. O trabalho está estruturado em três partes: Na primeira parte, além dos aspectos geográficos, hidrológicos, geomorfológicos e geológicos da bacia hidrográfica do rio, são abordados alguns aspectos do passado do rio, nomeadamente, a origem do nome, antigas pontes, a construção do porto de Leixões e antigos moinhos. Enumeram-se ainda os locais do rio com interesse histórico-cultural, os quais vale a pena visitar. A finalizar, é feita uma inventariação das acções de degradação, de defesa e de protecção do rio desde o ano de 1972. A segunda parte do trabalho diz respeito ao estado actual das águas do rio. São apresentados e analisados, à luz da actual legislação, os resultados das análises microbiológicos e físico-químicas efectuadas às águas, em quatro locais distintos. A última parte aborda a temática da utilização dos recursos locais no âmbito da Educação Ambiental. Aqui são divulgados e analisados resultados de inquéritos e questionários aplicados a alunos, professores e população, dos concelhos atravessados pelo rio.

The work has in mind the following general objectives: - To characterize the hydrograph basin of Leça in the following aspects: geography, hydrology, geomorphology and geology. - To know the history of the river. - To summarise previous actions of degradation and review defence and protections measures. - To characterize the chemistry and bacteria of the water in the river, at four different points. - To investigate, in the student population of the councils where the river passes, the knowledge and degree of interest in the river. - To investigate, in the class, the degree of knowledge concerning the river and its use as a didactical resource. - To voice the public opinion concerning the previous and present situation of the river. The work is structured in three parts: In the first part, besides the geographical aspects, we talk about hydrological, morphological and geological aspects of the hydrograph basin of the river; some aspects of the past of the river, like the origin of the name, old bridges, the construction of the port of Leixões and old mills are approached. There are still innumerable places of the river with historical-cultural interest, which are worthwhile to visit. To conclude, it is made a summary of the actions of degradation, defence and protection of the river, since the year of 1972. The second part of this work is concerned with the actual state of the river’s waters. The results of the microbiological and physical-chemical analyses made to the waters in four different locations are presented and analysed by the actual legislation. The last part approaches the theme of the use of local resources in the area of Environmental Education. Here, we disclose and analyse the results of inquiries and applied questionnaires to students, teachers and the population of the councils where the river flows. As a contribution to the area of Environmental Education, is presented here a visit-guide for the river Leça.
