Efeito educativo do acolhimento num lar de crianças: um estudo de caso

Abstract

O acolhimento em instituições é uma solução para crianças/jovens em risco. É objetivo estudar os efeitos da ação do Lar de uma Associação no sucesso educativo de crianças/jovens fragilizados, verificando se a intervenção é uma estratégia eficaz e a replicar enquanto medida de edução e integração social. Foi analisado o motivo do acolhimento, o enquadramento escolar e medidas de apoio, a situação problema no acolhimento, a alteração comportamental e a situação atual. A amostra são 10 utentes do Lar (9.5 ± 4.4, 18.8 ± 3.8 anos de idade, respetivamente no início e fim do acolhimento). Os dados obtiveram-se por consulta de cada Plano Individual. Os resultados indicam uma diversidade na idade de ingresso e término do acolhimento no Lar, e problemáticas e contexto difícil de vida antecedendo o acolhimento, embora com etiologia díspar. A ação no Lar ao longo do acolhimento promoveu uma alteração positiva no envolvimento escolar, com mais sucesso e espectativas alargadas dos participantes para o seu percurso escolar. Identifica-se uma valorização da Escola e do saber. Cada utente evoluiu favoravelmente face ao seu problema inicial e contexto. Os resultados ajudam a compreender a dinâmica dos procedimentos e a possibilidade da mudança.

Reception in institutions is one of the solutions for children at risk. The study aims to analyze the effects of the Association shelter on the educational success of weakened children. It was analyzed the reason for the reception, school context and support measures, the problem in the reception, the behavioral change and the current situation. The sample is 10 children or young people with past at the shelter (9.5 ± 4.4, and 18.8 ± 3.8, respectively beginning and end of the reception). Data were gathered by consulting each user Individual Plan. The results indicate diversity regarding the age of admission and conclusion of the reception at shelter. They present in common a problematic and difficult context of life preceding the reception, although with different etiology of problems in each participant. The change in the school involvement during the reception was positive, with improvement in the school success and expectations. There is a trend towards valorization of the School and the knowledge. Each child or young person has evolved favorably according to their initial problem and specific context. The results help to understand the dynamics of procedures and the possibility of change.
