This study covers the field of Didactics in interface of knowledge and meanings with the fields of the initial training of teachers, the curriculum in undergraduate teaching courses and the professional identity as the learning and construction of the teaching profession. We tried to, specifically, know the meanings of the subject Didactics, assigned by the students of the undergraduate teaching courses at the Instituto Federal de Educação, Ciência e Tecnologia do Rio Grande do Norte - IFRN, in the construction of knowledge about teaching, in order to understand what they think about what it is like to be a teacher. Considering that the area of Didactics is our axis of professional performance in the aforementioned institution, we have chosen to discuss, analyze and investigate how suitable it is for our students. In addition, as a curriculum component of the undergraduate courses, the Didactics subject is a training relevant reference because it addresses the concepts of training and teaching practice and its various seas of knowledge about teaching, the act of teaching. Therefore, the study is anchored in the theoretical foundation and discussion of literature in Brazilian, Portuguese productions and from other American and European countries which form the epistemological framework in evidence. For the development of the research and data collection, in order to know the appropriations and meanings of undergraduate students, the method of research is of the qualitative nature, having, in the written narratives, the main methodology. Forty-three students of Biology, Mathematics, Geography, Physics, and Spanish participated in this study, produced written narratives based on the clues of investigation which were given to them. The narrative data allowed us to obtain macro-categories of analysis, such as: 1) the meanings of Didactics; 2) interfaces, curricular and extracurricular contributions of Didactics, curriculum and initial training; 3) project and professional identity. The results showed significant internalizations about the theoretical repertoire of the primordial concepts of the discipline of Didactics, about the remarkable theoreticians and authors on the Didactics field, especially, knowledge of the pedagogical practice of the teacher, of the work instruments as methodology and teaching plans. In addition, it is also highlighted the relations with the curriculum, with other disciplines of the course, teaching experiences experienced in the internships, researches, programs, in other educational settings, besides the schools. The narratives show that the students have a very positive perception of Didactics, contextualize its importance on training, as well as also understand the complexity that surrounds the profession. In this perspective, we learned that, to the students, TO BE a TEACHER lies in this diversity and complexity threshold in seas with water which is sometimes agitated, sometimes stable, sometimes turbulent which bathe the professional identity. The Didactics participates, in this movement, being, at the same time, sea that flows into the ocean of being a teacher and the harbor of knowledge and practices that provides subsidies to the huge ocean crossing that is the teaching profession. |
