Resumo(s): | [Excerpt] What futures are to be envisioned for audiences, across generations and in the context of transforming technologies and a changing social and political landscape? The previous chapter saw four scenarios for audiences in the year 2030 unfold (Chapter 11). These scenarios pinpoint developments along two axes—uptake of technological advancements and participation in public life in the context of changing audience-institution relationships—and outline how different combinations inspire diverging understandings of future audiences. Through these scenarios, our colleagues have argued that horizon scanning can result in thought-provoking depictions of the future. Towards that aim, the scenarios must be evaluated as potential resources for understanding the future of audiences in the context of their everyday lives. That is the task of this chapter.[...] |
