A valorização patrimonial do Caminho de Santiago no concelho de Vila Verde (Braga)

Abstract

O presente relatório traduz os resultados obtidos num Estágio realizado na Câmara Municipal de Vila Verde, centrado na Valorização patrimonial do Caminho de Santiago no concelho de Vila Verde (Braga). Apesar dos estudos já realizados acerca do tramo do Caminho de Santiago que passa pelo concelho de Vila Verde, esta temática carece de uma análise mais fina e diacrónica que permita valorizar a sua importância como fio condutor através do qual é possível obter um conhecimento mais detalhado sobre as alterações que este itinerário conheceu desde a Idade Média, mas, igualmente, que possibilite a sua valorização patrimonial, contribuindo deste modo para a sua dinamização turística. Neste sentido, através de uma metodologia de análise que privilegia o cruzamento dos diferentes tipos de fontes disponíveis, nomeadamente os dados históricos, o património arqueológico e arquitetónico da região, mas também o itinerário conservado na atualidade, pretende-se conferir maior detalhe à trajetória inicial do tramo do Caminho de Santiago no concelho de Vila Verde, tendo em conta que se trata de um itinerário que reutiliza os anteriores caminhos, nomeadamente romanos, mas também de valorizar o importante património da região. Pretende-se, igualmente, através da aplicação de um inquérito e de uma análise SWOT avaliar as principais debilidades deste percurso e apresentar algumas reflexões e propostas de melhoria, de modo a contribuir para a promoção cultural deste itinerário e da região, assim como para atrair um maior número de “peregrinos”.

The following report translates the results gathered during an internship that took place at Vila Verde City Hall, centered in Patrimonial Valuation of the Santiago’s Way in the Municipality of Vila Verde (Braga). Despite of the studies already made about the stretch of Santiago´s Way which goes through Vila Verde, this theme lacks a thinner and more diachronic analysis which allows to value its importance not only as the conducting wire through which it is possible to obtain a more detailed knowledge about the changes that this itinerary met since the Middle Ages, but also and equally, to enable a patrimonial appreciation, contributing to its touristic dynamization. In this sense, through a methodology of analysis which privileges the intersection between the different kinds of available sources, namely historical data, the region’s archeological and architectonic patrimony and the current conserved itinerary, it is intended to grant bigger detail to the initial trajectory of the stretch of Santiago´s Way in Vila Verde, considering that it is an itinerary which reuses the older paths, namely roman and also giving value to the region’s important patrimony. It is also intended, through the application of an inquiry and a SWOT analysis to evaluate the main weaknesses of this itinerary and to present some reflections and proposals for its betterment, thus contributing to the cultural promotion of the itinerary and the region, and making it so that a bigger number of “pilgrims” is also attracted.
