The automobile sector represents a high weight in the world’s economy and therefore, it imposes a high demand on the organizations which are a part of it. The need to respond to high quality levels and low takt times means that organizations are unable to achieve desired levels of efficiency. Thus, the need arises to create mechanisms that enable the organizations to achieve the desired efficiency. The Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), as a measure of efficiency, has conquered its space within the organizations as a means of monitoring its general activity or of the different productive processes. Throughout this dissertation, the real case of an assembly line of a company of the Automobile Industry monitored by the OEE is presented. Initially the line presented job cycle times and analysis stations of End of line (EOL) superior to Takt time and a First pass yield (FPY) of 76,1%, which translated into a low level of efficiency (OEE value of 39,5%) In view of the diagnosed problems, proposals for improvement were elaborated, using various methodologies and techniques, such as, the PDCA cycle (Plan, Do, Check and Action) and the SMED (Single Minute Exchange of Die). The implementation of the proposals for improvement permitted the reductions of cycle times and the EOL analysis stations, in order to comply with the takt time established and increase the FPY, which reflected in an increase of 32,2% of the OEE value. |
