A Casa-Moinho de Passos: a água como infraestrutura do território e do projecto de arquitetura

Abstract

Esta tese visa a valorização de uma Casa-Moinho situada na freguesia de Passos, património cultural e arquitetónico típico do concelho de Cabeceiras de Basto, que se encontra atualmente num estado de progressiva degradação e abandono. Atualmente esta construção não assume nenhuma das funções sociais e tecnológicas para a qual foi desenhada, e as suas particularidades espaciais são timidamente apresentadas através dos indícios do lugar. Esta construção faz parte de uma complexa infraestrutura hídrica tradicional presente no lugar que se torna no principal mote da investigação. A análise destas estruturas permite uma olhar informado sobre o espaço em estudo e torna-se no instrumento chave nas decisões do projeto de arquitetura. A base de conhecimento de escala transversal, que vai das relações territoriais ao detalhe do pormenor construtivo, permite reinterpretar contemporaneamente estes temas e propor uma intervenção que devolva a identidade perdida deste lugar. O projeto pretende articular e restabelecer as várias relações com o recurso natural da água, expondo-as a possíveis visitantes. Assim, promove-se também uma atenção sobre a conservação e a valorização deste património, e o questionamento do lugar das infraestruturas tradicionais no mundo contemporâneo.

The present thesis seeks the valorization of a watermill-house located in the parish of Passos, cultural and architectural heritage typical of Cabeceiras de Basto, which is currently in a state of progressive degradation and abandonment. At the moment, the building doesn’t assume none of the technologic functions for what was built for, and its special characteristics are timidly showed through evidences on the site. This building makes part of a complex traditional water infrastructure present on the site, that’s becomes itself the focus of the investigation. The analysis of these structures allows an informed look about the space in study and becomes the key instrument in the decisions taken on the architecture project. The knowledge acquired from scale transversal themes, goes from the territorial relations to the constructive detail, and allows to reinterpret them in the contemporaneity, proposing an intervention that gives back the lost identity of the place. The project intend to articulate e reestablish the several relations with the natural resource of the water, exposing them to possible visitors. In this way, it’s promoted a warning about the conservation and valorization of this heritage and the questioning about the place of the traditional infrastructures in the contemporary world.
