Aprender para crescer: uma intervenção com crianças institucionalizadas

Abstract

O presente relatório apresenta um projeto de investigação-intervenção no âmbito do estágio curricular referente ao Mestrado em Educação - Área de Especialização em Educação de Adultos e Intervenção Comunitária. Este projeto, intitulado por “Aprender para crescer: uma intervenção com crianças institucionalizadas” incidiu num Lar de Infância e Juventude (LIJ), tendo como destinatários um grupo de sete crianças acolhidas na instituição. Essas crianças provinham de meios familiares desestruturados e meios sociais desfavorecidos marcados, sobretudo, pelas dificuldades económicas, pela falta de condições habitacionais e instabilidade emocional, sendo por isto, consideradas crianças em situação de perigo. Partindo do ponto de vista socioeducativo e preventivo a intervenção com estes grupos, considerados em risco e/ou perigo, deve ser cuidada e passar por um acompanhamento específico. Assim, segundo Trilla (2004, p.277) estes grupos necessitam de dispor de outros modelos de adultos de referência, para o conhecimento e a vivência de valores alternativos aos oferecidos no ambiente familiar. É necessário potenciar a relação afetiva e de novos padrões de socialização, assim como uma estruturação da personalidade a partir de uma clarificação de limites e normas de conduta. Também é importante a aquisição de hábitos de comportamento normalizado (higiene, alimentação, cuidados com o meio onde vivem, condutas não violentas…). Neste sentido, este projeto visou essencialmente contribuir para o desenvolvimento pessoal e social das crianças, estimulando várias competências cognitivas e de assertividade, sensibilizando-as para a adoção de bons hábitos de higiene e saúde e incentivando-as a boas práticas, de forma a torná-las crianças mais informadas, responsáveis, autónomas e consequentemente, melhorarem a qualidade das suas vidas.

The present work presents a research-intervention project, performed during the curricular internship, under the Master in Education – Specialization on the Area of Adults Education and Community Intervention. This project, titled as “Learning to grow: an intervention with institutionalized children” occured on a Children´s and Youngsters Home. The destination of this intervention was a group of seven children in care on this institution. These children came from disfavored social and familiar environment, deeply marked by economic problems, bad habitation conditions and emotional instability, being for these reasons considered as children in risk. Taking in account the socioeducative and preventive points of view, the intervention on these groups, considered as in risk or danger, should be carefully done as well as it should include a specific follow-up. Thus, according to Trilla (2004, p.277), these groups need to adopt another model of adult behavior, in order to learn and live alternative values to those offered on the familiar background. Moreover, it is essential to potentiate the affective relationship and new socialization patterns, as well as a personality structuration, taking as basis a limit clarification and a definition of conduct rules. It is also fundamental the acquisition of habits of normalized behavior, in terms of hygiene, alimentation, care with the environment they live, non-violent conducts…). In sum, this project aimed to contribute to the personal and social development of the children, stimulated by several cognitive and assertive skills, alerting them for the adoption of good habits of hygiene and healthy, encouraging them for the good practices, turning these children more informed, responsible, autonomous and consequently, to improve their lives.
