O design e o vestuário: sutiã ergonómico para mulheres mastectomizadas com sequelas linfáticas

Abstract

Estudos apresentados sobre os têxteis, sobre as suas características e atuações no vestuário possibilitaram a criação e desenvolvimento de peças de vestuário que propiciam maior conforto, gerando interação e integração da pele com o meio ambiente, tornando o têxtil multifuncional e melhorando, por exemplo, o desempenho de atletas e o dia-a-dia de um indivíduo comum nas suas tarefas rotineiras. Desta forma, pode-se afirmar que o vestuário desempenha o papel de uma segunda pele. Estendendo-se o olhar sobre o vestuário e amplitude de usabilidade, funcionalidade e a vasta aplicação da tecnologia têxtil, decidiu-se investigar um público específico crescente e merecedor de toda atenção: as “Mulheres Mastectomizadas com Sequelas Linfáticas”. Analisando o mercado e questionando-se a crescente problemática do cancro de mama no mundo, investigou-se dentro da Engenharia Têxtil a criação/o design de um dispositivo têxtil que considerasse as necessidades do cancro de mama e o linfedema, minimizando as sequelas patológicas e melhorando a funcionalidade. O design criado para o estudo consistiu em uma peça única de sutiã com braçadeira para confeccionar duas versões de dispositivos têxteis em estrutura jersey com microfibras de poliamida e elastano. Um dispositivo foi confeccionado com fio de microfibra constituído por poliamida 6.6 e aditivos emissores de infravermelho longo, denominada no mercado como microfibra Emana®. O segundo dispositivo placebo foi confeccionado com microfibra de poliamida 6.6 comum. O efeito do uso destes dispositivos sobre as sequelas linfáticas de mulheres mastectomizadas foi comparado com o efeito proporcionado pelo uso de um dispositivo têxtil já disponível no mercado, de diferente design e também produzido com poliamida 6.6. O estudo foi realizado com investigação em campo e uma metodologia multidisciplinar. As experiências conduzidas de forma comparativa quantitativa permitiram avaliar os três dispositivos nos diferentes quesitos (conforto, usabilidade, estética, funcionalidade terapêutica), com uso diário de seis horas, mantendo a rotina das voluntárias. O estudo teve duração de cento e oitenta dias e contou com a participação de 60 voluntárias, pacientes atendidas pelo Centro de Apoio à Mulher Mastectomizada Viva Melhor do ABC (Santo André, SP, Brasil e do Instituto de Controle do Câncer, São Paulo, SP, Brasil). O processo teve um acompanhamento paralelo dos profissionais de saúde e permitiu avaliar de modo objetivo e subjetivo o efeito do uso das três versões de dispositivo sobre as sequelas linfáticas. A análise objetiva foi efetuada através de perimetria para avaliar a diminuição do edema do membro afetado ao longo do tempo de uso de cada dispositivo. A análise subjetiva foi conduzida através de um inquérito aplicado às voluntárias com o objetivo de avaliar os aspectos de percepção de conforto, dor, inchaço, e praticidade de uso dos dispositivos. No final da investigação, o estudo permitiu disponibilizar com mérito um dispositivo em peça única para mulheres mastectomizadas com sequelas linfáticas, confecionado em microfibra Emana®, caraterizado pelo sua eficiência inovadora. Assim, o resultado deste trabalho permite apresentar uma nova alternativa para a qualidade de vida das mulheres mastectomizadas com sequelas linfáticas, o sutiã e braçadeira em peça única denominada “Dispositivo para Mulheres Mastectomizadas com Sequelas Linfáticas” com um design ergonómico e tecnológico.

Studies that have been carried out about textiles and their characteristics and performances on clothing have made possible to create and develop pieces of clothes that add comfort and provide an integration between the skin and the environment, turning textiles into a multifunctional article that helps, for instance, improving athletes’ performances and enhancing the lives of ordinary people when performing their daily activities. That way, one can affirm that clothing plays the role of a second skin. Casting a look over clothing and the broadness of its wearability and functionality, in addition to the wide application of textile technology, we have decided to investigate a particular growing public that deserves our total attention – that of the woman who has undergone a mastectomy followed by a lymphedema. Ransacking the market and questioning the ever growing problem of breast cancer in the World, we have investigated into the Textile Engineering the development/design of a single piece of clothing that meets the needs of a woman who has undergone a surgery to remove a breast cancer and afterwards developed a lymphedema - a piece that minimizes the pathological sequelae and improves functionality. The design that has been developed to this study consists of a unique piece of a bra with a compression sleeve to be constructed in two different versions of a textile structure Jersey produced with microfibers yarns of polyamide and elasthane. One garment has been constructed with microfiber yarns of polyamide 6.6 with incorporated additives of long infrared senders in the core - known in the market as Emana®, and a garment - constructed with microfiber yarns of standard polyamide 6.6 and elasthane. The effect of such instrument on women who have undergone a mastectomy followed by a lymphedema was then compared to the effect caused by the wearing of the textile garment already available in the market – with a different design but also produced with polyamide 6.6 and elasthane. With a field investigation and a multidisciplinary approach, the experiments which have been carried out in a quantitative comparative way have allowed us to evaluate the three garments according to different issues regarding comfort, wearability, aesthetics and therapeutically functionality, with a daily wearing of six hours with no change in the volunteer wearers’ routine. The study lasted 180 day and counted on the participation of 60 volunteer women, patients at the Instituto de Controle do Câncer (Institute of Cancer Control) - São Paulo and at the Centro de Apoio à Mulher Mastectomizada Viva Melhor (Suppor Center to Mastectomized Women Live Better) in the ABC region of São Paulo. Such process has involved a parallel health professionals’ follow-up and made it possible to evaluate both objectively and subjectively the effect of the wearing of the three versions of the instrument on the lymphatic sequelae. The objective analysis was carried out through the use of perimetry in order to evaluate the edema reduction on the affected member all through the wearing time of each instrument. On the other hand, the subjective analysis was carried out through a questionnaire submitted to the volunteers in order to access the aspects of their perception towards comfort, pain and swelling, in addition to the wearing practicability of the instruments. At the end of this investigation, the study has resulted in important benefits of the proposed design in a single piece constructed with Emana® polyamide to women who have undergone a mastectomy followed by a lymphedema, attributing to the experiment a successful approach before the fulfilment of a ground breaking efficiency. Therefore, the results of this investigation made possible for us to present a new alternative for improving the quality of life of those women who have undergone a mastectomy followed by a lymphedema – a bra with a compression sleeve in a single piece called “Garment for Women Who Have Undergone a Mastectomy Followed by Lymphedema Sequels”, with an ergonomic/technological design.
