Resumo(s)Currently, VANETs (Vehicular Ad-hoc Networks) are attracting a lot of interest in the scientific community and this is mainly due to its usefulness in the deployment of new Intelligent Transportation Systems. However, due to the very high mobility of vehicles in this sort of networks the handover process represents a serious problem, in particular for real-time applications such as VoIP. Therefore, the goal of this work is to improve the handover management of vehicular networks. To accomplish this goal a new solution is proposed. The solution uses a pre-registration phase to exchange security and QoS (Quality of Service) parameters before the occurrence of the handover. The scheme used in our solution allows reducing the number of handovers, have secure handovers and provide suitable Quality of Service (QoS) for real-time applications, in VANETs. The obtained results show that the proposed solution could substantially reduce the number of unnecessary handovers, improving in this way the quality of the service for VoIP applications.
