Química na análise de vestígios de crime

Abstract

O ensino das ciências, designadamente da Química, de uma forma contextualizada surge como uma estratégia para um ensino significativo, pelo que o objetivo deste trabalho foi a utilização do tema “Química na Análise de Crimes” para abordar algumas temáticas da Química. A metodologia usada foi a construção de um cenário de crime ficcional, a partir do qual e para análise dos diversos vestígios aí encontrados, é proposta aos alunos a realização de um conjunto de análises químicas, do domínio forense, que visa a resolução do crime e ser o veículo para a integração do conhecimento. Esta abordagem gerou um grande interesse e curiosidade nos alunos, não só pelo desenrolar da investigação mas também pela estreita relação entre esta e o conhecimento químico. Isto foi evidenciado pela enorme participação dos alunos, através das questões colocadas e da discussão gerada quando da apresentação das provas. Os conteúdos ao serem abordados com base nos princípios CTS (Ciência, Tecnologia e Sociedade), apresentam-se ao aluno de uma forma menos abstrata, intimamente relacionada com a realidade o que permite despertar o interesse e curiosidade para o ensino da Química.

The teaching of Science, particularly of Chemistry, in a contextual manner, arises as a promising strategy for a meaningful and motivating approach that may be applied in the classroom. The objective of this project was to use the theme “Chemistry in the analysis of crime” to present some relevant topics within the secondary school chemistry curriculum. The methodology applied in this project was based on the creation of a fictional forensic crime scene, from this stage and with the evidence and clues identified by the students, the participants carry out a series of chemical analyses, within the domain of forensic chemistry. The objective is to solve the mystery and identify the criminal, at the same time providing insight into the role of Chemistry in crime detection and the importance of an integrated scientific approach for criminal detectives. This approach created enormous interest and curiosity on the part of the students, not only during the various stages of simulated criminal investigation, but also because of the evident need for chemical knowledge in interpreting the evidence. The interest was made clear by the willing participation of the students, through the questions they asked the teacher and the animated discussion that surrounded the evidence. The content of theses classes, focussed on selected topics within CTS (Science, Technology and Society), are presented to students in a less abstract manner, are intimately related to their immediate environment and can therefore awaken interest and curiosity within the students and provide the motivation necessary to study Chemistry.
