Educação e pedagogia num contexto multicultural : um estudo numa sala de um jardim-de-infância

Abstract

A presente dissertação intitula-se “Educação e Pedagogia num Contexto Multicultural: um estudo numa Sala de um jardim-de-infância”, e foi realizada na Universidade do Minho, no âmbito do mestrado em Educação de Infância, na área de especialização em Pedagogia Intercultural da Infância. A problemática central do estudo é a educação multicultural e o problema de investigação é a educação multicultural numa sala de jardim-de-infância do concelho de Braga. Os principais objetivos da dissertação prendem-se com a análise de dinâmicas educativas e pedagógicas desenvolvidas numa Sala de um jardim-de-infância, e são, respetivamente: conhecer e analisar as representações e discursos das famílias em relação à ação educativa e pedagógica do jardim-deinfância; observar e analisar a convivência intercultural no quotidiano do jardim-de-infância, e sensibilizar os agentes educativos, principalmente a educadora, para as diferenças culturais. As questões orientadoras da investigação são as seguintes: 1.Que nacionalidades estão representadas na Sala selecionada para investigação? 2. O que a educadora de infância e a coordenadora do Centro Escolar mostram conhecer, saber e valorizar acerca da educação multicultural? 3.Como é que a educadora responsável pela Sala desenvolve a sua prática educativa e pedagógica, atendendo à diversidade multicultural? 4. As crianças estrangeiras da Sala enfrentam dificuldades de integração? 5. Como é que as crianças da Sala em estudo interagem entre si? 6. Como é que os pais das crianças reagem à ação educativa e pedagógica da educadora? A pesquisa desenvolvida sobre as conceções e dinâmicas educativas na referida Sala foi enquadrada com recurso a elementos concetuais disponíveis na literatura sobre a problemática da educação multicultural, a elementos éticospolíticos e normativos disponíveis em declarações e legislações, e organizacional, nomeadamente, através da consideração de elementos pertinentes relativos à organização da educação pré-escolar em Portugal. Tendo em consideração os eixos centrais do projeto de dissertação - problemática, problema, questões orientadoras e objetivos científicos - optou-se pelo recurso a uma metodologia qualitativa, tendo o trabalho de campo sido desenvolvido com recurso a técnicas de recolha de dados como a entrevista, o inquérito, a observação direta não participante, a conversa informal e a pesquisa documental. No final do trabalho conclui-se que, na prática, na Sala objeto de investigação, não é de facto implementada uma pedagogia multicultural. É muito provável que esta situação não seja exclusiva desta Sala, e por isso, talvez se possa defender que é muito importante apostar decididamente na formação inicial e contínua de educadores e professores no campo da educação e pedagogia multicultural.

This dissertation is entitled “Education and pedagogy in a multicultural context: study in a kindergarten classroom” and was carried at University of Minho, within the scope of the Masters in Childhood Education in the field of specialization of Intercultural Pedagogy of Childhood. The central topic of the presented study is the multicultural education and the subject is the multicultural education in a classroom of a kindergarten in the region of Braga. The main goals of the dissertation rely on the analysis of educational and pedagogic dynamics developed in the kindergarten, and are, respectively: - To understand and analyze the representations and speech of the families towards the educational and pedagogic role of the kindergarten; - Observe and analyze the multicultural interplay on a daily basis in the kindergarten, and sensitize educational agents, specially the teacher, to the cultural differences. The questions guiding the research are: 1. what are the nationalities represented in the selected classroom for the research? 2. What are the aspects that the teacher and the kindergarten coordinator know, understand and valorize about the multicultural education? 3. How the teacher in the classroom does develops educational and pedagogic practices, regarding multicultural diversity? 4. Do the foreign children in the classroom face integration difficulties? 5. How do the children in the classroom interact with each other? 6. How do the children parents react towards the educational and pedagogic practice developed by the teacher? The research developed about the educational conceptions and dynamics in the classroom was framed by using conceptional elements existent in the literature about the multicultural education, elements based on politics, ethics and regulatory available in declarations and legislation, and organizational elements, namely through the consideration of elements related to the organization of the pre-scholar education in Portugal. Considering the central axis of the dissertation project – problematic, problem, guiding questions and scientific goals – it was chosen to use a qualitative methodology, being the field camp developed using data collection such as interviews, inquires, direct non participative observation, informal conversation and documental research. In the end of the work, it can be concluded that, in the room subject of research, it is not implemented a multicultural pedagogy. It is likely that this situation is not exclusive of this classroom, and as such, it may be defended that it is crucial to support the initial and continuous training of the teachers and educators in the field of multicultural education and pedagogy.
