A implicação da política editorial no tratamento noticioso : o caso do Jornal de Notícias

Abstract

A presente investigação tem como objetivo perceber se a política editorial do Jornal de Notícias tem implicações no tratamento noticioso dos assuntos da secção ‘Porto’, nomeadamente na produção de um jornalismo local próximo da região Norte do país, após a recente mudança de direção. Assim sendo, analisamos notícias publicadas antes e após a tomada de posse das novas chefias, atendendo aos seguintes indicadores: Género jornalístico, Espaço, Fotografia, Assunto/tema, Valores-notícia, Local de cobertura, Fontes de informação e Tipo de discurso. Adicionalmente, considerámos pertinente complementar esta análise com a aplicação de uma entrevista ao subdiretor do JN e ao editor da secção ‘Porto’, no sentido de confrontar os resultados obtidos com a visão destes profissionais. Para contextualizar esta análise em torno da implicação das chefias no produto jornalístico, pesquisámos informação sobre o processo de produção de notícias, as rotinas de produção e o jornalismo local e de proximidade. Para isso, definimos como questão de partida: “Até que ponto a política editorial tem implicações no tratamento noticioso das notícias?”, o que neste caso particular significa perguntar: “Até que ponto a mudança de Direção determina a forma como os assuntos do ‘Porto’ são retratados no Jornal de Notícias?”. Após a conclusão da análise da secção ‘Porto’, percebemos que a política editorial determina o modo como os assuntos são tratados jornalisticamente, tendo sido possível verificar algumas das mudanças que haviam sido anunciadas pela nova direção na tomada de posse. De facto, através da análise das notícias verificámos algumas tendências que vão ao encontro do objetivo da direção, nomeadamente uma maior aproximação à região Norte do país e, consequentemente, aos seus leitores – a publicação dos assuntos dos locais mais próximos da redação do jornal e que retratam os cidadãos da região, encarando-os como fontes credíveis. No fundo, com a mudança de direção verifica-se um aumento da publicação de assuntos próximos da região, no sentido de fazer do JN ‘um jornal do Norte’.

This research aims to understand if the editorial policy of Jornal de Notícias (JN) has implications in the treatment of the news topics of the section 'Porto', particularly in the production of a journalism site close to the northern region of the country after the recent change of leadership. Therefore, we analyzed the news published before and after the inauguration of the new leadership, according to the following indicators: Gender journalistic, Space, Photography, Subject / Theme, News values, Site coverage, Sources of information and Type of speech. Additionally, we considered pertinent to complement this analysis with an interview with the deputy director of JN and the editor of the section 'Porto', in order to compare the results obtained from the vision of these professionals. To contextualize this analysis around the involvement of managers in reporting, we researched information about the process of news production, routines and local journalism and proximity. For this, we defined the research question: "To what extent does the editorial policy have implications for the treatment of news stories?", which in this particular case means asking: "How far the change of leadership determine how the affairs of 'Porto’ are portrayed in the Jornal de Notícias?". Upon completion of the analysis in section 'Porto', we proved that the editorial policy determines how the subjects are treated journalistically, and it was possible to verify some of the changes that had been announced by the new direction at the inauguration. In fact, by analyzing the news, we have seen some trends that to meet the goal of leadership, particularly closer to the region north of the country and hence its readers - the publication of the affairs of sites close to the newspaper office and depicting the region's citizens, seeing them as credible sources. Basically, with the change of direction, there is an increase in the publication of matters of proximity in order to make the JN "a newspaper of the North".
