O contributo do dicionário digital online para a aprendizagem da língua portuguesa : estudo de caso no âmbito do Projeto VISEUS - http://www.myowndictionary.eu/

Abstract

No âmbito do Projeto VISEUS foi desenvolvido um software multimédia intitulado My Own Dictionary, O Meu Dicionário na versão portuguesa. Este software educativo para além de promover a aquisição de competências no domínio das novas literacias multimédia, é também importante no desenvolvimento da aprendizagem de línguas. O estudo aqui apresentado mostra alguns dos resultados da utilização desta ferramenta multimédia disponível em www.myowndictionary.eu. Esta investigação foi realizada na aula de língua portuguesa de 6º ano de uma escola de Braga. Averiguou-se o domínio de competências digitais, bem como o envolvimento, motivação e autonomia dos alunos durante a utilização deste Dicionário online. A metodologia utilizada foi de natureza qualitativa seguindo a estratégia do estudo de caso. O estudo aqui apresentado reflete alguma evidência de que a utilização das TIC na sala de aula enriquece o processo de ensino-aprendizagem, torna-a mais atualizada, dinâmica, diversificada e eficaz na construção de conhecimentos, dando mais poder aos alunos no desenvolvimento dos seus saberes. O estudo desenvolvido promoveu a familiarização dos alunos observados com diferentes dicionários, sendo contudo dada a ênfase ao dicionário digital online disponível em www.myowndictionary.eu. Ainda no âmbito desta investigação, o grupo observado estudou a obra Ulisses, da autora portuguesa Maria Alberta Menéres, inserida no Plano Nacional de Leitura (PNL) e dela seleccionou palavras cujos significados desconhecia, que considerou “interessantes”, “bonitas” ou “que os marcaram”. Estas palavras serviram como as primeiras entradas no My Own Dictionary. Toda a dinâmica de ensino aprendizagem foi gerada através do software contido no site www.myowndictionary.eu. Neste estudo os alunos desenvolveram os seus Dicionários de forma construtivista, trabalhando cooperativamente e de forma autónoma. Este estudo constitui um contributo para a integração de software de qualidade na educação, motivando a experimentação e utilização de outros semelhantes que tragam aprendizagens e favoreçam a autonomia e construção de conhecimento dos alunos numa perspetiva construtivista.

Under the project VISEUS it was developed a multimedia software titled My Own Dictionary, O Meu Dicionário in the Portuguese version. This educational software promotes the acquisition of skills in the field of new media literacies and it is also important in the development of language learning. The study presented here shows some of the results of the use of this multimedia tool available at www.myowndictionary.eu. This research was performed in a Portuguese 6th year language class of a school in Braga. It was observed the student’s digital skills, as well as their involvement, motivation and autonomy during the use of this online Dictionary. The methodology was qualitative following the strategy of the case study. The study presented here reflects some evidence that the use of ICT in the classroom enriches the teaching-learning process, makes it more up-to-date, dynamic, diverse and effective in building knowledge, giving more power to the students in developing their knowledge. The study promoted the use of different dictionaries by the students, but the emphasis was on the digital dictionary available online at www.myowndictionary.eu. Still within the framework of this investigation, the group studied the book Ulisses of the Portuguese author Maria Alberta Menéres, inserted in the PNL – Plano Nacional de Leitura. Students looked for words whose meanings were unaware, "interesting", "beautiful" or "that marked them". Those words served as the first entries in My Own Dictionary. The entire learning dynamic was generated through the software contained on the website www.myowndictionary.eu. In this study students have developed their Dictionaries in a constructivist way, working cooperatively and autonomously. This study is a contribution to the integration of quality software in education, encouraging experimentation and the use of other similar that bring learning and also to encourage the autonomy and the construction of knowledge of students in a constructivist perspective.
