A comunicação nas Instituições Particulares de Solidariedade Social : o papel das redes sociais

Abstract

As novas tecnologias, em particular as redes sociais são, cada vez mais, um meio utilizado, para captar a atenção dos variadíssimos públicos de uma instituição. Com este estudo pretende-se aprofundar de que forma as IPSSs —Instituições Particulares de Solidariedade Social—, tendo em conta o seu cariz social e não lucrativo, lidam com as mesmas e se adaptam aos avanços tecnológicos. Importa assim conhecer a posição das IPSSs nesta matéria, tanto ao nível da sua identidade visual, como de informações que transmitem e sobretudo quais as consequências, positivas ou não, que retiram deste avanço e desta nova ligação com o cidadão baseada no virtual. Partindo de seis instituições — APAV — Associação Portuguesa de Apoio à Vitima, Ajuda de Mãe, Ajuda de Berço, Acreditar (Associação de Pais e Amigos de Crianças com Cancro), BA – Banco Alimentar e APAMCM — Associação Portuguesa de Apoio à Mulher com Cancro da Mama — procurámos dar resposta à questão de partida, recolhendo os dados através de inquéritos por entrevista (semiestruturada) e através das páginas institucionais na rede facebook onde fomos buscar os logótipos que as identificam visualmente. Dada a natureza diversa destes dados, optámos por dois modos distintos de análise. A análise das entrevistas foi inspirada em Laurence Bardin (2009), na sua análise categorial-temática. Para analisar as imagens usamos o quadro analítico de Kress & van Leeuwen (1996). Podemos afirmar que há de facto coerência em termos de valores e ideais entre o seu discurso verbal, o que dizem sobre o uso que fazem das redes sociais, e os logótipos que colocam nas plataformas. Porém existe ainda um longo caminho a desenvolver e a melhorar sobretudo no que toca à interação, que não constitui para estas um objetivo primordial no uso das redes sociais.

New technologies, and in particular social networks, have increasingly been used to capture the attention of the various audiences of institutions. This study aims at investigating how the IPSSs- Instituições Particulares de Solidariedade Social (Private Institutions of Social Solidarity), considering their social and non-profit nature, deal with them and adapt to technological advances. It is therefore necessary to understand the IPSS’s position on the matter, both regarding visual identity and which information to transmit and, most importantly; which consequences, positive or otherwise, they are able to draw from these advances and from this new, virtual-based, relationship with the citizens. In the context of six institutions — APAV (Associação Portuguesa de Apoio à Vitima), Ajuda de Mãe, Ajuda de Berço, Acreditar (Associação de Pais e Amigos de Crianças com Cancro), BA (Banco Alimentar), e APAMCM (Associação Portuguesa de Apoio à Mulher com Cancro da Mama) — we explore our starting question by collecting data from interview questionnaires (semi-structured) and from the institucional pages on the social network facebook, where we gathered the logotypes that visually identify them. Given the diverse nature of this data, we chose two distinct methods of analysis. The analysis of interviews followed Laurence Bardin (2009), in his content-categorical analysis. For the analysis of images we used the analytical framework of Kress & van Leeuwen (1996). Our study shows that there is in fact coherence, in terms of ideals and values, between their verbal speeches, what they say about their use of social networks, and the logos they use in their platforms. However, there are still several developments and improvements to be made, especially concerning interaction, which has not thus far constituted a core purpose of the use of networks.
