This study aimed at analyzing the acquisition of nominal agreement, in number and gender, and verbal agreement, in number and person, in Portuguese L2, by Chinese Li speakers. We analyzed whether, during the learning process, native Chinese speakers, and university students studying Portuguese as a Foreign Language, present significant acquisition results, both in the domains of nominal and verbal agreement. In addition, the present study intends to verify if social immersion in a Portuguese-speaking environment is or is not a determinant in the acquisition of the target structures. The analysis is based on a written corpus, produced by 20 Chinese learners, with different levels of proficiency and different experiences of social immersion in the Portuguese linguistic context. According to these factors, the sample was divided into four groups. The results of this analysis show that learners, regarding written expression, do not present considerable difficulties in the acquisition of nominal and verbal agreement, and, among them, have fewer difficulties in acquiring verbal agreement. Performance in this area is correlated with an increased level of proficiency. Regarding the immersion factor, our results do not show relevant differences between speakers with/without immersion experience. |
