Resumo(s)Abstract multifunctional materials allow to provide highly specific clues to the cells. In particular, tissue engineering and regenerative medicine are increasingly taking advantage of electroactive and magneto active materials delivering an electrical signal to the cells upon mechanical solicitation or delivering mechanical clues under electrical or mechanical applied signals. In this way, biomimetic microenvironments are developed containing not only the needed biochemical clues but also the morphological, mechanical, and electrical ones needed for specific tissue regenerations such as muscle, cartilage, and/or bone. This chapter will focus on the recent materials and strategies followed to develop multidimensional biomechanics approaches based on electrically and magnetically active microenvironments.
