Do retrato poético: leituras interartísticas na poesia portuguesa contemporânea

Abstract

Pretende-se com o presente projeto explorar a questão do (auto)retrato poético no contexto contemporâneo português através de leituras da poesia de Herberto Helder, Vasco Graça Moura e Manuel António Pina. Considerando o contexto teórico-crítico acerca do género do (auto)retrato nas várias linguagens em que se vem praticando, a nossa intenção centrar-se-á nas manifestações (auto)retratísticas discerníveis na obra poética dos autores mencionados para, através de confrontos interartísticos estabelecidos preferencialmente no âmbito das artes visuais dos dois últimos séculos, tentarmos perceber até que ponto se revela, no panorama poético moderno e contemporâneo, uma deslocação ou um afastamento progressivo de uma estética das semelhanças e da narratividade para, ao invés, proporcionar-se uma nova visão do retrato que se afirmará pela fuga à ilustração e ao descritivo, aproximando-se do fragmento, da rasura, da perda, da ausência e do silêncio. Tal deslocação, indissociável das várias crises — do sujeito, da imagem, da representação — em que foi pródigo o contexto cultural moderno e pós-moderno, e das sucessivas reterritorializações da identidade ocorridas a partir daí, colocarão, como demonstraremos, o próprio conceito de retrato face a importantes dificuldades categorizadoras, pondo em causa a sua própria ontologia e a sua própria necessidade.

This project aims at exploring the matters of the poetic (self) portrait within the contemporary Portuguese context while analysing the poetry of Herberto Helder, Vasco Graça Moura and Manuel António Pina. While taking into consideration the theoretical and critical context on the genre of (self) portraiture in the several forms that it has been put into practice, we intend to focus on the manifestations of (self) portraiture discernible in the work of the aforementioned authors, preferably through interartistic juxtapositions established within the realm of the visual arts of the last two centuries, in order to understand the existence of a progressive deviation or digression from an aesthetic of similarities and narrative, as one heads towards a new view on portraits that defines itself by an escape from illustration and description, by becoming closer to fragments, erasure, absence and silence. This displacement, inextricable from several crises - of the subject, of images, of representation - in which the cultural modern and post-modern context was rather profuse, and the several reterritorialisations of identity that took place from them, will therefore expose, as we argue, the concept of portrait to certain problems of categorization, questioning its own ontology and its own necessity.
