Integração de Internet of Things num processo de negócio

Abstract

Todas as organizações pretendem ter do seu lado uma vantagem competitiva relativamente aos seus competidores mais diretos. Para tal, cada vez mais essas vantagens competitivas obtêm-se com a integração de tecnologia no negócio, sendo que, com o aparecimento mais recente da Internet of Things, o investimento em atualizações tecnológicas dos seus processos resultará em benefícios na eficiência organizacional. Além disso, tendo os seus processos com uma envolvente de Internet of Things, a gestão dos mesmos torna-se mais simplificada e o controlo é facilitado. Para a execução deste projeto é pretendido selecionar uma atividade de um processo de negócio que se encontre saturado, ou seja, uma atividade que tenha vindo a ser alvo de tentativas de inovação por parte das organizações, porém sem sucesso evidente. Posteriormente, a mesma deverá ser adotada para reestruturação com a integração de um conjunto de dispositivos/sensores, conectados entre si e também a uma rede, com o propósito de automatizar um conjunto de ações presentes ao longo da atividade. No final deverá ser possível perceber, através de simulações realistas, que a implementação de Internet of Things em processos de negócios deste género poderá traduzir-se em ganhos, em vários sentidos, para uma organização. Mesmo em casos onde implementação não tenha a eficiência desejada para organização, esta traduzir-se-á em vantagens competitivas.

All organizations seek competitive advantage relatively to their direct competitors. To achieve this organizations started integrating technology in their business areas, such as the case of the recently emerging Internet of Things, in which the investment in technologic upgrades will result in a spectrum of benefits to the organizational efficiency. Apart from this, having processes with an Internet of things process related to it, will simplify the management and control of the business problem. In this project, a saturated business process will be tested upon using this method since previous innovations of this process didn’t return an improvement over the initial iteration since no new implementations of this business process were found in real context or any integration of a network using linked sensors/devices that would allow the automation of a set of actions presented throughout the business process. Ultimately, it will be possible to understand through simulations in the business process, that an internet of things implementation will result in a competitive gain for the organization even if the initial business process is saturated. Independently of the success of the implementation in the organization or its efficiency not being on par with the expected by the organization, this will still return an improvement over the traditional business process and grant the organization a positive outcome resulting in a competitive advantage.
