Contudo, a relação
Creativity and motivation are in nowadays essential requirements in the daily educational environment. These are inseparable concepts by sharing characteristics. Therefore, it is essential to explore each of these dimensions in the context of the classroom, as well as to research their relationships in this context, with the goal of maximize the presence of such requirements and make educators aware of their importance. Accordingly, the goal of the study is to analyse the motivation to learning and the perceptions of a creative environment in the classroom, taking each variable separately and analysing each one as a function of gender and year of schooling, not forgetting the relationships between both, in general and in terns of these same variables. This study comprises 222 students of the third and fourth years of the basic compulsory education. These students are from public schools in the north of Portugal. The study also aims adapting to the Portuguese context the “Scale for Evaluation of Motivation to Learn (Neves & Boruchovitch, 2007). The data were collected using this scale and also the “Classroom Climate for Creativity Scale” (Fleith & Alencar, 2005). The findings show significant differences in what concerns the perceptions of creative environment according to gender and year of schooling, and no significance emerged concerning motivation to learning. The findings also show significant correlations between the two dimensions evaluated, in general, by gender and per year of schooling, although not very expressive. Therefore, it is not possible to ascertain that the perceptions of the creative environment in the classroom are predictors of the motivation to learning in the sample analysed. However, the aforementioned relationships as well as the differences found allows sensitizing educators to the analysed variables, as well as to interventions both in the classroom and outside the classroom. |
