| Resumo(s): | This chapter will mainly be concerned with the analysis of seam failure through rupture or slippage. The mechanisms of seam failure under stress or due to wear-out will be highlighted. Test methods for seam performance will shortly be presented. Some common sewing defects that can be the cause of seam failure, or simply result in minor faults mainly considering the aesthetical aspect, will be examined. Finally, the text presents future trends in technological tools for defect avoidance and detection. |
