estudantes do ensino superior.
Entrepreneurship represents a key driver of growth and sustainability of the economy, as well as a mechanism of social development. Therefore, it has been assumed as a priority area for public policy makers. Similarly, the higher education institutions look at entrepreneurship with particular attention, because it allows them to materialize the purpose of asserting themselves as active agents that contribute to the economic and social development of the regions where they are integrated. In this context, entrepreneurship education is seen as a strategic response that may contribute to the increase in entrepreneurial activity. Thus, this study proposes to examine the impact of entrepreneurship education at the level of entrepreneurial competencies and motivations, as well as evaluating the entrepreneurial potential of higher education students and the importance that they attribute to entrepreneurship and entrepreneurship education. The research adopts a quantitative methodology, being the sample object of study consists of 465 higher education students. Given the heterogeneity, complexity and dynamism that characterizes the context of entrepreneurship, is also made an incursion by a qualitative approach, based on in-depth interviews among students with enterprises established on the market or with business projects in the process of market entry. The results show that was not found empirical support for arguing that entrepreneurship education has a positive impact at the level of entrepreneurial competencies and motivations of higher education students. Nevertheless the absence of such impact, students consider that entrepreneurship education is essential for students who want to start a business and that entrepreneurship has interest for all scientific domains. Ultimately, we concluded that in what concerns to the entrepreneurial competencies, students of the scientific field of Economics and Management reveal higher levels compared to students from other scientific domains, while the motivation for entrepreneurship is transverse to students from all scientific fields. |
