O jogo como recurso didático : uma intervenção pedagógica na área curricular da matemática no 1º CEB

Abstract

A presente investigação pedagógica integra-se na Unidade Curricular de Prática de Ensino Supervisionada do Mestrado em Educação Pré-Escolar e Ensino do 1.º Ciclo. No âmbito desta investigação, pretende-se perceber se a utilização dos jogos funciona como um elemento gerador de motivação para as aulas de Matemática e se a mesma se torna num fator de promoção da melhoria da aprendizagem dos alunos nesta área curricular. É hoje consensual que o jogo é importante para a aprendizagem e desenvolvimento da criança, tornando-se assim evidente a importância da sua utilização no ensino. Neste sentido, o presente estudo apresenta a importância do uso do jogo no ensino e na aprendizagem da Matemática, fazendo referência ao papel do professor, uma vez que é ele que orienta os jogos na sala de aula com vista à concretização dos objetivos a que se propôs atingir. Apresentam-se, de igual forma, a metodologia de investigação na qual se enquadra este estudo e a análise e interpretação dos dados recolhidos a partir da observação, dos registos efetuados pelos alunos durante a realização dos jogos e dos questionários realizados aos alunos. Assim, a avaliação incide sobretudo ao nível do impacto dos jogos propostos na motivação e na aprendizagem dos alunos. Os resultados revelam que as intervenções promovidas no âmbito deste projeto desenvolveram-se numa atmosfera de entusiamo e que os alunos mostraram-se interessados e empenhados, destacando-se uma atitude de cooperação entre os alunos. É possível concluir que a utilização de jogos na sala de aula contribuiu para uma melhoria das aprendizagens dos alunos, resultante da interação e do confronto de ideias entre os alunos e destes com a professora.

The present pedagogic investigation is a part of the Curricular Unit of “Supervised Teaching Practice” of the Master degree in “Pre-school and Primary Education”. Under this investigation, the aim was to understand if the usage of games works as a motivation enhancer for Mathematics classes, and if it becomes a factor in promoting the improvement of students learning in this curricular subject. Nowadays, it is consensual that the game is important in the learning and development of the child, becoming obvious the relevance of its usage in teaching. In this sense, this study presents the importance of its application in Mathematics’ teaching and learning, regarding the teacher’s role, since he is the person who guides the games in the classroom in order to achieve the goals previously established. It's also presented the research methodology in which this study fits, and the analysis and interpretation of the data collected from the observation, from the records made by the students during the games execution and from the surveys carried out with the students. Therefore, the evaluation focuses mostly at the impact of the proposed games on the motivation and learning of the students. The results reveal that the interventions promoted under this project were developed in an enthusiastic atmosphere and that the students showed interest and commitment, surfacing an attitude of co-operation among the students. It is possible to conclude that the utilization of games in the classroom contributed to an improvement in the students’ learning, as a result of the interaction and exchange of ideas among students and between them and the teacher.
