The COAR Notify Initiative is developing and promoting the adoption of a standardized, interoperable and decentralized approach to linking research results hosted in the distributed network of repositories with other external resources and services. The COAR Notify protocol is based on the W3C Linked Data Notifications
and ActivityStreams2 standards, facilitating interaction between repositories and services that implement the protocol. The initial focus of development has been on linking repository resources with external peer reviews hosted by overlay journals and open peer review services, but there are other use cases that are of interest to
the community. In July 2022, the initiative received funding from Arcadia (Lisbet Rausing and Peter Baldwin's charitable trust) for a project which is enabling investment in the development of Notify functionality on partner platforms and services, with the aim of it being adopted on opensource platforms so that many repositories can make use of the protocol. This communication will frame the initiative in the current context of open science, present up-to-date information on the progress made to date by the COAR Notify Initiative and provide information on the developments planned for the near future.

The PUB IN project aims to strengthen periodical scientific publishing in
Portugal, having among its objectives the support to the publishing community. It
offers support services (manuals, tutorials and webinars), seeking to cover innovative
aspects and good practices. After 2 years of activity, it is interesting to analyze the
impact of this support, measuring its relationship with the implementation of
innovations and good practices in Portuguese scientific journals. To this end, a
questionnaire was applied to members of the editorial management (63
respondents). The results show the project's ability to influence the publication's
activity, especially in more technical areas. There is greater resistance to aspects
associated with a new paradigm, such as open peer review or pre-prints.

Resumo: Medical education and medical education research are growing industries that have become increasingly globalised. Recognition of the colonial foundations of medical education has led to a growing focus on issues of equity, absence and marginalisation. One area of absence that has been underexplored is that of published voices from low-income and middle-income countries. We undertook a bibliometric analysis of five top medical education journals to determine which countries were absent and which countries were represented in prestigious first and last authorship positions.

Resumo: NECOBELAC is a three-year Project started on February 1st 2009 and funded by the European Commission within the 7th Framework Program. NECOBELAC stands for Network of Collaboration Between Europe, Latin American and Caribbean Countries, and aims at enhancing the production and dissemination of quality scientific information in the field of public health. More precisely it focuses on two main objectives: 1) the promotion of training initiatives intended to improve the scientific writing skills of all professionals working in the health-related areas and 2) the implementation of scholarly communication systems based on the concept of immediate, open and permanent access to research results. The six partners involved in the Project are represented by academic and scientific institutions (from Italy (project coordinator), UK, Spain, Portugal, Brazil, and Colombia) which have gained sound experience in providing information services and outputs through networked initiatives. In this respect, the Project intends to raise awareness on shared principles of good practice among all stakeholders (authors, editors, publishers, information professionals, funding agencies, institutions, learning societies) of the scientific information chain and to promote a cultural change in the information production and dissemination process. The impact of the Project will be measured also by considering the outputs of the activities undertaken by the Project.
