Lesbianismo, feminismo e activismo gay : alianças difíceis

Abstract

As questões lésbicas têm sido debatidas sob a influência quer do feminismo, quer do movimento lgbt. As lésbicas são lésbicas e mulheres. Os problemas com que se debatem situam-se no âmbito desta dupla pertença, complexificando alianças políticas e traduzindo dificuldades em determinar o que são “questões lésbicas” e a partir de que posição devem ser equacionadas. Este artigo apresenta uma análise exploratória dessas dificuldades no caso português, recorrendo a entrevistas a activistas de organizações lgbt nacionais. A localização das questões lésbicas numa zona de fronteira sugere a importância de uma abordagem específica que impeça a sua diluição no debate mais geral acerca da dominação masculina ou do heterossexismo.

Lesbian issues have been debated under the influence both of feminism and of the lgbt movement. Lesbians are lesbian and women. The problems they face are located within this double belonging, rendering political alliances more complex and translating difficulties in determining what are “lesbian issues” and from which standing point should these be discussed. This article presents an exploratory analysis of such difficulties in the Portuguese case, resorting to interviews by national lgbt activists. Locating lesbian issues in a borderline area suggests the importance of a specific approach, which prevents their dilution in the larger debate on male domination or heterosexism.
