dc.description.abstract | Moved by the concern with the role of Theory in Architecture, this dissertation seeks to expose the relevance of the theoretical dimension of the discipline, by exhibiting, and participating, in the evolutionary character that it can have, through the relationship between Theory and Buildings. To expose this character, the work seeks to show that Theory itself acquires an evolutionary dimension, for whose contribution the authors who produce it, or others who are exterior to it, can play an active role. With the purpose of playing this role, two theories already determined and established in The Formal Basis of Modern Architecture (1963), by Peter Eisenman, and Learning from Las Vegas (1972), by Robert Venturi, whose approaches are based, in very different ways, in the determinism of Form via Language, are analyzed here. It is argued here, through the study of the relationship between reality and the definitions of Form that are presented in them, that although it is not part of the core of these theories, they propose, even if involuntarily, the determination of a specific way of relating Architecture and Time. Demonstrating the existence of a new dimension in two theories already established. In addition to the confirmation of this feature of the Theory, the work seeks to extend the two theories studied. After analyzing and confirming that the architecture of some of the buildings made by these authors - which in themselves are already an extension of their theoretical works -do not establish the relationship with Time inherently proposed by them, new elements were introduced - buildings and definitions of Form - that are considered to have developed, until today, the implicit but unresolved relationship with Time, in the theories and built works of Eisenman and Venturi. In short, the dissertation exposes the relevance of Theory in Architecture, by showing that, although it may not have a literal repercussion in reality, or vice versa, it contains an additive and "multi-participatory" quality, which allows the discipline to evolve. | por |
