The need to develop new technologies for water heating is increasing, therefore it is in this field that this work takes part, based on the study of solar thermal panels and the incorporation of nanofluids. Firstly, it was conducted two different types of experiments with a solar thermal panel. For the first experiment, it was studied the heating process of water, to evaluate the efficiency of the system as function of the flow rate, and other where it was studied the heating process of three liters of fluid for different percentages of propylene glycol. The results showed that the introduction of propylene glycol in the mixture of the fluid induces an increase of the final temperature of the volume of the heating fluid. In addition, for the second experiment, the process of heating showed that this system is highly dependent of the room temperature and the results were inconclusive for the efficiency, not having any proportionality between the flow rate and the heating power. Secondly, it was done an analysis of the thermal conductivity, which showed that there is a proportional increase between the thermal conductivity and the volumetric percentage of alumina nanoparticles (NPs). After that, it was studied the heat transfer of a nanofluid flowing in a milli channel, with NPs of alumina, with different percentages of alumina (0,05%, 0,1% and 0,2%) in the base fluids water and PPGW50 (50% propylene glycol and 50% water). The results have shown that there was an increase in the convective of heat transfer for the percentages of 0,05% and 0,1% and a decrease for the percentage of 0,2%. The main reason of the latter result can be explained by the fact that there was a deposition of alumina NPs in the bottom part of the milli channel. Finally, a sedimentation study was carried out and it was found that the introduction of propylene glycol leads to faster sedimentation. |
