Empreendedorismo imigrante dos sírio-libaneses no Brasil

Abstract

Este estudo aborda o empreendedorismo imigrante dos sírio-libaneses na cidade de São Paulo, sua trajetória, dificuldades e conquistas socioeconômicas. Ao chegarem ao Brasil, a partir do final do século XIX, a grande maioria dirigiu-se para o centro da cidade de São Paulo, para a zona da rua 25 de março e ruas adjacentes, onde, a princípio moravam e trabalhavam. Com o passar dos anos, registou-se o acréscimo desses imigrantes de etnia árabe, que demarcaram o território da cidade de São Paulo, e contribuíram não apenas com sua cultura, mas também economicamente e ainda hoje são de grande importância histórica para o desenvolvimento da cidade. Para compreender esta dinâmica, começamos por fazer uma análise da história de São Paulo e da imigração sírio-libanesas, além de quantificar a contribuição destes imigrantes para a criação de novas empresas e de emprego. Na segunda etapa, considerando situação atual, foram exploradas as principais dificuldades e barreiras enfrentadas no processo de criação e / ou operação de seus negócios. Inclusive foram examinados os apoios oferecidos por agências não governamentais e organismos públicos para esses empreendedores imigrantes. Além da pesquisa bibliográfica e documental, também foi feito o levantamento do comércio existente por imigrantes empreendedores sírio-libaneses na região central da cidade de São Paulo. Para uma melhor análise e compreensão dos caminhos trilhados e do desenvolvimento e da conquista de seu próprio negócio na capital paulista foi realizada uma pesquisa participativa através de entrevistas com os imigrantes empreendedores, diante dessa pesquisa de campo foi possível também estabelecer o crescimento económico que gerou para o país.

This study approaches the immigrant entrepreneurship of Syrian-Lebanese people in the city of São Paulo, their trajectories, difficulties and socioeconomic achievements. Upon arriving in Brazil, from the end of the 19th century, the vast majority went to the city centre of São Paulo, to the region of 25 de Março Street and adjacent streets, where at first, they lived and worked. Over the years and the addition of these immigrants of Arab ethnicity who demarcated the territory of the city of São Paulo and contributed not only to their culture, but also economically and still today is of great historical importance for the development of the city. To understand this dynamic, it was necessary to analyze the history of São Paulo and Syrian-Lebanese’s immigration, in addition to quantifying the contribution of these immigrants to the creation of new businesses and employment. In the same way, the main difficulties and barriers faced in the process of creating and operating their business were explored. It was also examined the support offered by non-governmental agencies and public agencies for these immigrant entrepreneurs. In addition, the research was bibliographic and it was analysed trade in goods in the central region of the city of São Paulo. For a better analysis and understanding of the paths trodden, the development and conquest of its own business in the capital of São Paulo, a participatory research was carried out through interviews with the immigrant’s entrepreneurs, given this extensive field research, it was also possible to establish the economic that result for the country.
