Abstract(s)Brain cancer is a disease that affects people worldwide. One of the problems of this cancer is the low resection degree during surgery due to the difficulty in distinguishing the tumor of the brain parenchyma. Therefore, is important to find new methods that increase the resection degree and, as consequence, the cancer cure, reducing the tumor recurrence. A new method proposes the use of electromagnetic waves in order to help surgeons distinguish the tumor of brain parenchyma. This paper pretends to describe a model that can be used to distinguish tumor from brain parenchyma, enabling to find the minimum brain tumor size that can be detected when a waveguide that transmits electromagnetic waves working in 30 GHz contacts with it.
