Jornalismo desportivo: a predominância do futebol em comparação com as restantes modalidades

Abstract

O estágio curricular no jornal desportivo online Maisfutebol fez-me vivenciar um problema que atinge os jornais desportivos portugueses. Esse problema é a disparidade entre as notícias produzidas para o futebol e para as restantes modalidades. O presente relatório/dissertação de mestrado incide, numa primeira parte, no período de estágio e, posteriormente, numa pequena investigação sobre o jornalismo desportivo, subdividida numa abordagem teórica e numa componente empírica, com o objetivo de responder à seguinte questão: Quais os motivos por que o jornalismo desportivo dá grande preponderância ao futebol, em detrimento das restantes modalidades, e quais as consequências desse modo de proceder? A componente empírica, baseada na análise dos jornais O Jogo e A Bola, bem como num pequeno conjunto de entrevistas realizadas a jornalistas desportivos, permitiu recolher dados que sustentam a investigação e demonstram a predominância do futebol nos jornais desportivos, quando comparados com as modalidades. As eventuais causas desta situação são também analisadas neste trabalho.

The internship in the online sports newspaper Maisfutebol made me experience a problem that affects portuguese sports newspapers. This problem is the disparity between the news produced for football and for the other sports. The present report / master's thesis focuses, in a first part, on the internship period and, in a small investigation about sports journalism, subdivided in a theoretical approach and an empirical component, with the objective of answering the following question: What are the reasons why sports journalism gives great preponderance to football, to the detriment of other modalities, and what are the consequences of this way of proceeding? The empirical component, based on the analysis of the newspapers O Jogo and A Bola, as well as a small set of interviews conducted with sports journalists, allowed the collection of data that support the investigation and demonstrate the predominance of football in sports newspapers, when compared with the modalities. The possible causes of this situation are also analyzed in this work.
